I’m thinking about going back to thousand needles to finish up my leveling to 50x. Whenever you go back in time, will zones go back ti their original state if you choose a precata expansion. There are certain areas I want to quest in a little longer than whatever level cap the zone has. Like I want to go through original thousand needles. Without all the water

With some zones, you can go back by talking to some NPC (I think they’re called Zidormi), but others that were changed in Cata are inaccessible in retail. Thankfully, classic WoW is out and you can try those zones pre-cata if you wish!

I wish there was a pre-cata vanilla Chromie Time. Would love to see Vanclef and Arugal again. Oh and Herod and his buddies in Scarlet Monastery.

I’ve been advocating for this, along with removing the level cap.

I liked Thousand Needles without the water too, but it’s all water now. I enjoy leveling in old Zangarmarsh. You should try it. Its great!

The Cata revamp permanently changed the world. There is absolutely no way to choose a zone and it be the Vanilla version in retail. Even if you pick BC or Wrath, it will be that way.

A few zones that have been updated post Cata can revert to the version prior, but we’re still talking Cata as the baseline. For example, darkshore, blasted lands, Silithus, and Tirisfall Glades have updated versions that you can talk to an NPC in the zone to revert before the latest expansions messed with them.
