Since a lot of people are posting about how they’d like to be able to get these things after there gone whereas other people don’t want players stomping challenges with OP gear/slands abilities to get the mogs with ease- eroding the value of their achievements…
Here’s a solution.
Chromie time challenges.
You talk to Chromie, you ask for a “true challenge”, and this opens up a tab with a bunch of long lost challenges, like MOP challenge modes and Legion Mage Tower.
When you zone in, YOU ARE TEMPLATED. You have a fixed set of gear and talents FROM the last patch the challenges were available. You aren’t in perfect BiS, you are in the gear that the average player beat it in. You have to beat it as if you were playing that patch.
I mean, if you’re templated to a MoP class with MoP gear or Legion class with Legion gear… they really have no argument against it. You’re doing the same challenge they did.
You can not replicate the challenge given the changes to the classes from back then to today. The challenges themselves would have to be constantly evaluated with every patch or at least every major spec revision to make sure it can still be done.
I say this as someone who wouldn’t care if they came back and who got the mage tower looks I wanted at the time. It literally means nothing to me if someone else gets a flail or wearbear skin but didn’t “earn it” back then.
That makes no sense. They’d have to have kept the class and their actual spells and abilities (including artifact weapon abilities and weapon perks and relics).
It is a feasible request for MoP since essentially the dungeons were timewalking (though still gimmicky with gem slots and such)…it isn’t in any way for Mage Tower.
While I agree and fully support this idea as I’d love a chance at getting the Werebear form for Guardian Druid. And don’t mean to piss in anyones soup but…
It’ll never happen.
Simple reason being, that exclusivity sells and up until the point where Blizzard caves and bring something back that was once exclusive. It won’t sell as much, as then Players will get the expectation they can wait a few years and it will return.
“Well what about the Quillen mount they brought back? From MoP Collectors Edition.”
It’s a special case with that mount, cause while it was technically exclusive for some time. A decent amount of players probably have it already, not to mention there are more recent mounts that were Collector Edition that ended up on the store as well. Draenor’s, Legion’s, BFA, Shadowland’s Collector edition mounts are all on the store avaliable to purchase.
Thus not really exclusive.
Now I can’t say if they’ll do any more then that, as I don’t know if Cata down through Vanilla even offered mounts with their Collectors Editions.
Not to mention the real exclusive mount from MoP is Tyrael’s Charger which they didn’t bring back.
(Nor should they, it’s fugly and I say that as someone who has it. )
I thought about something similar as my Horde alt was going through Kun Lai and I saw the Sha of Fear sitting there and not dying.
“What if drop rates in Chromie time for items and mounts were raised to pre-nerf levels?”
But then I realized that for many expansions, it wouldn’t be the same. Tanks in TBC and Wrath wouldn’t have to Def Cap. Talents wouldn’t be the same, etc.
So while I love the idea, I don’t know exactly how feasible it truly is across the board though I know it’s impossible to do with the way the game has actually changed over the years.
This has been suggested in every single mage tower thread ever made. It’s always shot down because people in this game need to feel special, years after the fact.
Personally I’ve always loved the idea. Would give me more reasons to come back and play longer.
