I’m trying to quest in Cataclysm because despite it being one of my least favorite expansions, I loved the questing zones in it and I’m trying to level up a lock for fun and whenever I select Cataclysm it brings me to the warchiefs command board and it gives me nothing but quests for other places.
Like wtf am I supposed to do, pay someone to fly me there? I don’t even think I can start to quest in Vashj’ir, i’m pretty sure I have to grab the starting quest somewhere else. SO WTF DO I DO. I can go to Draenor, Legion, Outlands, Wrath, Pandaria, Literally ANY other expansion EXCEPT Cata.

You just go talk to chromie in orgrimmar and you get a followup quest to start the expac.
I’ve done that like 3 times and it doesn’t do anything
Oh then that is a bug then.
Vashjir starts at orgimmars docks once you accept the quest from the board.
There are also the portals (cant remember if they are active for sub 50 characters)
Otherwise when you accept the quest it should point you the right direction.
Remember cata was the last expansion that had pretty poor “go here to start” kinda quests because you could go vashjir or mount hyjal.

pretty sure cataclysm also includes the revamped world content not just the zones that were added in cata. Is it giving you the choice of those or just lands from other expansions?
Cataclysm includes the old world zones, and the cataclysm leveling zones. Because they require flying a lot of the time, you have to be level 30 before you start those.

I don’t think it’d work like that but if you do need/want someone to fly you there, I’ll happily do that for free.
I believe Cataclysm includes all of the Eastern Kingdom and Kalimdor quest revamps done when it was released. It isn’t just 5 disparate zones.
I too ran into the same frustration to start cata quests. I ended up going into the tower closest to the dock and inside was the quest giver. You couldn’t see his “!” On the map. But I accepted it and walked into the dock waited for like forever and finally the Vashjr boats arrived. Definately a messed up start to cata
