Why should they care if people are gearing in old content right now? Is the questing gear that would drop for a L50 in Chromie time better than the Black Empire catch-up gear in BfA? Is it better than the pre-patch catch-up gear that’s going to be added?
Even if it is, it’ll become obsolete when Shadowlands hits. If it’s about twinking, then just put L50 Chromie time players in the XP off queues. I’m having a really hard time coming up with a reason Chromie time isn’t designed as Rhielle suggested.

This was an issue on the ptr in all testing environments, and it was ignored.
The same way as not being able to queue for “Any random Dungeon” but instead must be forced to choose to queue for “Specific expansion dungeons” rather than being able to join any dungeon that’s available, resulting in absurdly long queue timers.
You’ve only seen negative feedback about this but haven’t seen anything about the fact that there already is a fix to this?
They broke the iLvl of most old content gear, though. Aside from BfA (which should be able to gear through), does any old xpac gear top iLvl 80?
For reference, I’m hoping to gear up my alts (leveled to 120 then put in Benthic gear) to iLvl 100 during the pre-patch event. I wouldn’t want to go into SL under that iLvl.
chromie time is meant to just do a campaign until you reach max level to get to content. you can still access the quests outside of chromie time. why dont people understand this? or are you people just here to complain just to complain?
What happens to your story progress in Chromie Time? If I’ve only finished half of Icecrown when I hit 50 and it boots me out, will it just pick up where I left off when I got back to Icecrown outside of Chromie Time with the same toon?
I finished up Loremaster of Panda with a toon I leveled, but I was really worried about it making me restart the story of a zone I already started if I didn’t finish it before 50. Didn’t know if it was like a Party Sync situation.
I have not gotten that far on a new character but I am disheartened by this.
They said you can pick the expansion you want and play through it in real time. I expected this to mean I could do the end-game content as well if I wanted to.
So you’re not mad about being kicked out because of not completing content, you want to twink in a lower level BG. Not gonna happen. I feel like Blizz is basically telling people that most PvP should be done at max level. Just look at the fact that you are kicked out at 50 and also if you are already 50, you can’t enter Chromie Time.
It’s not just about completing the quests, it’s being able to experience the quests/dungeons at a reasonable/intended difficulty, you know, without facerolling everything… getting booted at 50 before you’ve even started the third zone of an expansion, and suddenly being able to faceroll everything at said level doesn’t feel like good game design, and is rather disappointing… some of us want a challenge… I don’t want dungeons/group quests to be soloable. I want scary overworld elites to be scary overworld elites. I want to get my friends to help me finish the content because I’m not strong enough to do it on my own, etc, etc…

I don’t think that’s an issue. Just don’t let them run raids in Chromie Time if raids are a concern. And since it’s capped at 50, the gear should stay capped at 50, right? And new zone gear is always a higher ilevel than old expansion quest and dungeon gear.
Or just do it the easy way: don’t let you earn gear. Just a small amount of gold. People want to go back to run this for fun, not to gear. So I feel it would be easy to just say “no gear loot for you if you’re going back to run this at 50+ and be scaled down.”
If you had read, some people are asking for Timewalking Campaigns to work like Timewalking: go back in time and be scaled down so that even when they’re max level and want something different to do, they can have fun experiencing it at level, instead of overpowered and overgeared.
I would have liked a warning before I hit 50. That’s all I’m saying.
Both PVE and PVP are affected when you turn off exp, you are put in to BGs with others that have exp off, and if you try and do dungeons more then once to spam ques, the rest of the party will get a debuff saying " Someone in your party has disabled Exp, you will receive considerably less exp while in this dungeon " something of that sort.
