So I was thinking about the whole system of Chromie Time and how you won’t have access to flying until level 40. Is this an oversight on Blizzard’s part or am I just not seeing how this would work with Cataclysm? Many zones in Cataclysm content kind of expect you to have flying in Azeroth already. Please help me understand if this really is the issue I think it might be or not.
I thought Flying was 30 and Epic Flying was 40?
how so, hyjal you get teleported up too, infact we had to walk around all the zones till we hit 85 max level of cata… so im confused at your confusion

Also when I tried Chromie Time for Cata on the PTR it just sent me to, like, the current 10-60 zones, though maybe I did something wrong.
That still doesn’t help if someone is in Deepholm prior to 30.

There’s a lot of quests in the zones that require you to have flying in order to complete.

Yeah, just want to verify that you’ll start by doing “vanilla” zones if you choose Cata as your Chromie Time expansion, so the issue of actual Cata zones (and not just revamped zones) requiring flying seems to be negated.
Hyjal, Vashj’ir, Deepholm, etc. all start at level 30.
Can’t you do Mount Hyjal and Vashj’ir first? Unless I’m misremembering and they required flying.

No, that’s correct. All of Azeroth and Kalimdor are considered Cataclysm zones. Hyjal, Ulduar, Twilight Highlands and Deepholm are just late-game Cataclysm zones.
Therefore, you probably will have to wait until you have access to flying to go to Deepholm.

oh okay that makes sense, so you’ll simply quest in the old world zones til 30 and then go into cata til 50?

Yes. Though you could technically just do the old world zones, they scale up to 50.

Absolutely 10000% positive. The day Cata launched, we all went to the trainer to buy our Azeorth unlock for flying and hovered above our cities to take it all in.
Cats was an entirely different case due to how the content was set up.
