It makes no sense to me why you force players out of the content they are on and screw their scaling immediately upon hitting 50. I didn’t know this was going to happen, and if it had been explained well, I probably would have never came back to the game. I don’t want to be forced into BfA content pre-Shadowlands in order for the content to be meaningful to my character. Blizz screwed up on this one.
Man, people will threaten to leave over the pettiest of things…
I still think Timewalking Campaigns should work three ways:
- Currently, with the choice to leave when you hit 50.
- Currently, with the choice to stay and continue on without gaining levels.
- And the ability to go back after 50 to be scaled down and run stuff at level without the ability to gain XP.
How is this petty exactly? I like to level alts. I thought I was going to be able to have meaningful content in any expansion pre-Shadowlands. That is what was advertised. It is not what was delivered.
Yeah… when you are knee deep into a story and ding 50 you get yanked out and thrown towards BFA. Feels bad.
Plus, I like having replay value in a game, and if all my characters get funneled to the same content then the replay value goes down.
Glad you heard yourself and decided to delete that post.
Thanks… now you made me curious!
It makes sense…they want to funnel you into shadowlands. XP lock at 49 if you wanna stay, otherwise move onto shadowlands.
It’s not petty. Not everyone plays the game the same way you do. Some very much enjoy leveling and being at level of old content to go through it like that. Blizzard tosses you out unceremoniously like it doesn’t even matter. That’s not fun and seriously breaks the immersion people were enjoying.
It was a rather condescending rant that started off with “lol do you even hear yourself?” and continued into some tirade about being able to go back and do it at 50 anyway. But I didn’t get further than a few sentences before he deleted it.
That’s nice. They can do so after people choose to finish the expansion they’re in, instead of throwing them out on their butts like it was just a waste of time.
Just make a new character, lock it at level 49. Doesn’t take long to get there then you will always be able to play old content scaled to your level.
Try get loremaster or as close to as possible at level 49. Something to do for the next week
I’m not sure what “meaningful” means. You could level lock, and stay. If “meaningful” means that you would get advanced rewards of gear past iLvl 50 there, that was never advertised.
That’s not really a solution to being unceremoniously kicked back to a city while someone’s immersed in the middle of a qiestline. Which is why I think there should be a choice.
That’s funny bc I have an ilevel 58 weapon from exactly that content.
Well color me shocked! They don’t? I didn’t know that!
But seriously, you can just jump back in. The system only don’t make sense now since the expansion isn’t out yet. You’re supposed to be kicked out so you can be put into Shadowlands.
TC can just use the EXP stopper at 49 in the future. Easy fix. And who knows, maybe Blizzard knows about this complaint and is fixing for launch.
Meaningful means not hitting everything for 300k. TBH I didn’t even know level lock was a thing.
Sure and I have a level 70 artifact weapon on my new alt, but the rest of the gear in Legion capped at iLvl 50, I had to go to BfA to get gear rewards at higher iLvl.
How simple would it be for them to warn players this is going to happen, or give them the option. Like Rhielle said, it makes it all feel like a waste of time. Very poor design.
Still not done acting snarky and smug, I see.
No you can’t. Because now, everything is much lower in level.
And again… if people want to finish what they’re in the middle of doing, they should be allowed to do so. Please see my other post for how I think things should work.
Not to mention, not everyone will have bought Shadowlands. Choices are a good thing. Unceremoniously booting someone out is not a good way to go about things.
Indeed. Even if they don’t change it, at least warn them at 49, so they can stop XP. Though I’d rather see people have the choice of what they want to do.
Which honestly is also dumb IMO. I don’t want to go through BFA again. If I had, I wouldn’t be chromie timing in the first place. The entire thing is just badly designed.
Well, that’s not on me to answer but Blizzard. I guess you time traveling and then in the end Chromie is like “Hey dude, Azeroth need you now. Your time traveling thats totally on me is over. Ride is over bub”. I guess.
