Chromie time and how it affects you

I like Chromie time and use it a lot when leveling new characters.

There is a downside to using it though.

While using Chromie you will not be able to see other players where you are playing unless they are using Chromie in the zone as well.

I rolled a new Blood Elf and started in the old starting zone. There were about a dozen or so players in the starting zone.

There were several dozen players in Silvermoon City.

I went back to Org and set Chromie to the Cata expansion. When I returned to Silvermoon City it was completely empty from what I could see.

Apparently Chromie time phases you into your own little world. Great for questing, not much for grouping together.

Chromie is terrible for RP play.

prove me wrong.

Chromie time is a great concept that they need to work on. I’d like them to make it freely accessible all the time and scale all the way to max. No booting players out to funnel them into new content. Just tell them they’re a high enough level to go and 99.9% of people will go to it. But more importantly I want to be able to go into Chromie time at max level and play through old content as though it is relevant. I have piles of alts who have not played most of the game. There is a lot of old stuff and stories I want to revisit. I just want it to feel like an actual game when I do.

You can freeze your xp to remain at a specific level and then be able to use Chromie Time on those characters.

I accidentally went to level 50 on my draenei paladin and have been waiting (im)patiently for the max level to raise so I can do that to her and she can used Chromie Time to do Legion.

But it was lesson and now I make sure to freeze all my characters xp between lvl 42 and 49. (If you own Dragonflight, apparently you need to freeze it a few levels below the kick-out level or there can still be issues.)

I think Level 47 might be the sweet spot for Chromie Time right now. Once I got SL added to my account, the characters I had who were Level 48-49 had the SL breadcrumb quest forced upon them, and they couldn’t drop in and out of Chromie Time anymore. Instead, they could only stay in Chromie Time if they were already in it before hitting Level 48.

I wish chromie time was available at all levels, that way you could always go back and enjoy the old world even if you leveled to the highest and went out of it already.

Next expansion, I’d like chromie time available to level 70 as soon as your first character hits 70.

I think Chromie time (or whatever they replace it with) should be available through our adventure journal. We should not have to travel to our capital city to remove it so we can group with other players.

Of course, you should.

Chromie is not pressed in your adventure journal, she is in your capital city sitting up top an hourglass. And given all travel options available these days, it’s not like it is an arduous task.

It is these type of petty gripes that have ruined so much of the immersion and role-play that should be inherent in a MMORPG. I miss playing individual characters, I miss being trained by a trainer, I miss getting my demons in the basement of the The Slaughtered Lamb, I miss the World being dark and dangerous and my adventure being long.

The only ease-of-play feature they have added that I appreciate is not having to put my mats in my bag to use them. And that is only because I, just like in RL, would always forget something because I have the memory of a gnat!

Okay, rant over. May need more sleep. Have a nice day :grinning: .

Chromie time gave me indigestion. It was so bad that not even a bicarbonate of soda tasted good.

Leveling requires grouping?

I have friends who roleplay level together in retail. Chromie is perfect for them. They are not bothered by others.

For my low levels to have to travel to the capital city back to where they would have wanted to join a party with their friends many times is unreasonable.

The fact that you are convinced that everybody else is playing the game wrong and should be greatly inconvenienced at all times is a you thing. You despise other people and want them all to be forced to play the game in some idiosyncratic way that even you don’t play it.

Aw, poor baby. Nobody else is working hard enough, nobody else should have any quality of life whatever, but gimme what I want, and I want it now.

A bit of jetlag, but nothing crazy

No, it isn’t.

The fact that you think five minutes out of you way in order to preserve a RP feature is.

I knew the argument made was either going to include convenience or efficiency. Or maybe a twofer!

I really don’t know why anyone would choose a MMORPG to experience convenient and/or efficient gameplay. I mean there have to be MMOs with much more convenient and/or efficient gameplay than a RPG-style one.

And, while I do appreciate the convenience of not having to put my mats in my bags to craft, I would happily trade that away in a heartbeat for the return of even just one other RP feature.

But I am not playing a MMORPG for convenient or efficient gameplay, I am playing it to enjoy being immersed in a fantasy World role-playing (which says on the tin) a variety of characters.

Oh, please. Take it down a notch. You are not auditioning for Real Housewives here. No need to be dramatic.

I would if they gave me the options which I have suggested repeatedly on this board.

Appreciate =/= gimme

Your hyperbole is showing. Better tuck that in before someone sees.

(I am concerned at how amused I am by bickering with you. Definitely need more sleep.)
