Chris Metzen coming back!

His legal work was unrelated to Blizzard. He handled white collar litigation, but to my knowledge that didn’t include Blizzard. He worked in DC.

WOOO!!!

:dracthyr_heart:

Was thinking the same thing- Steve should feel embarrassed his direct reports had to bring back an original creator as an advisor to make sure new characters and plots mesh properly with the existing world and characters.

Here’s to protecting the integrity of character archs! Cheers!

Really the only egregious part was “lol it was all the Jailer’s plan”. the rest was tolerable., if not contrived. But crapping on every bit of lore since WC1 for a basically throwaway character that lasted one expansion and did nothing meaningful is unforgivable.

I think this is great news. He wasn’t the best story teller but he did understand the core of what he wanted WoW to feel like and I think having him back on the team as creative advisor is great. He will be able to make sure World of Warcraft stays true to his original vision for the franchise.

Not so long as Danuser remains. He’s still the Lead Narrative Director.

Hell yea, time to get more zug zug characters

I think hes going to suddenly take a vacation at some point and let metzen do his job tbh.
That guy just seems like hes cashing checks and remembering he had to write something.

Narrative director has more power than say creative advisor. Which mean Chris metzen can only give ideas and suggestions but don’t have much power to influence the story.

Story was never good.

WoW has absolutely always had a horrible expansion story.

Dragonflight has good story. Compared to past expansions.

This is patently false.

When do you think the actual expansion story was good?

TBC, Legion, Panda had no major issues. They were linear with few gaps or errors caused by major retcons. Where have you been for 17 years?

You felt TBC was a linear story, one that didn’t completely destroy WC3 characters?

Titans have been bad guys since WotLK so :dracthyr_shrug:

Unless you want to give specific citations to support your opinion there is no discussion here. What exactly were your issues with TBC?

yeah… The blues already made a special thread about their return.

But once again I repeat, let’s hope it also focuses on the narrative and the lore, since Danuser gives me a bad feeling since that REDEMPTION or R.E.I. to Sylvanas in Shadowlands.

Anyway, he’s glad he’s home again and hopefully his work will continue to be as great as it was in the 90’s and 2000’s.

TBC had no story. And it ruined WC3 characters.

What was the linear story of TBC? What was the story that encompassed the entire expansion, where each zone linearly continued it?

TBC had no cohesive expansion arc story.
