If Xal’atath is an option I would go with her, if I had to pick an old god, however, I would go with Yogg Saron just because Ulduar still remains my favorite raid. Going from a titan strong hold and descending down the broken stained glass to face him was just amazing, not to mention being able to look down at his female form from the platforms of the keepers I felt was just so cool.
I’m grateful that Archon is outperforming Voidweaver if only for the fact that it veers away from Old Gods altogether and into the more traditional shadow theme that the Forsaken (and by extension Sourge) personify.
The more chances for Shadow and Void to be more deliberately separated, the better.
I think Y’shaarj is the best Old God thematically speaking. I like how his entire shtick is about exploiting very real mortal vices. Fear, Pride, Doubt, Hatred, Despair, Anger, and Violence. I understand that the idea of Old Gods derive heavily from Lovecraftian horror- the fear of the unknown and unimaginable. But I think Y’shaarj’s power lying within very human traits makes him a special kind of enemy. To fight Y’shaarj is to fight the worst parts of yourself.
That kind of power and manipulation would be terrifying in the hands of a Shadow Priest.
I’d go all, like chaos undivided word bearers.
My shadow priest is a void elf. During my time being assimilated into the void I witnessed visions of the Black Empire’s might. After being removed from that state against my will I began serving N’zoth’s design and vision of the Black Empire. I’m currently observing Xal’atath to learn what her plans are to see if I should align with her or to embrace the coming of the void lords. I have no allegiance to the Alliance or Azeroth. I wish there was a third party option.
I kind of wish they made shadow, affliction and one new spec (death mage/necromancer, witch dr.) into a new dark arts class, or some other name. There should be a light based ranged damage dealer for priest instead of shadow.
