Choosing an alt help

Would love some ideas on what class to play I have a mage that I’ve played since 2005 but looking for an alt.

I’ll rule out a few:
Evoker - don’t really want to, maybe if the models were like the bigger dragon npc’s.
Priest - no way. every 2nd forum post these days is how healers hate the game and they have TWO heal specs and a budget wannabe affliction spec.

maybe something melee or something that still can perform a role.

Probably between druid and shaman and monk edit: oh and paladin which do you like and why for an alt.

First of all, Shadow Priest is NOT a Healer spec and is quite challenging more so than many other DPS specs. Very similar to playing Rogue Assassination spec except Shadow Priest is fun to play.

But if you prefer simple and easy then I recommend Priest Discipline spec, Druid Cat spec, Hunter Beast Mastery spec, Shaman Enhancement spec, Paladin Retribution spec, Warlock any spec, Mage Fire spec or Death Knight Unholy or Frost spec.

Avoid Tank and Healer specs, Demon Hunter, Evoker, Monk, Rogue and Warrior specs for alts.
