Choosing a Tank

I’m stuck I wanna main a tank and focus on just one in TWW I will be pigging and soling most of my io/ raiding and PvP I’m wondering what everyone think is a fun and engaging tank I’m leaning towards blood since I’ve wanted to seriously main one since BFA just I always get told their the worst and I shouldn’t I should go meta but idk I need help or someone to give some guideance on what is a good all around tank I don’t want to be the best I just wanna get a decent io and clear raid without to much hassle

No one knows what will be meta in the xpac… but Blood is looking to be a strong contender.

Hm. Then I would recommend the Pot Belly aka Druid.

But for real, I also hear great things about Blood DK in TWW. Hell, DK as a whole is looking great if you end up just wanting to DPS.

What level content do you want to do? If you are just trying to get ksm and aotc, it doesn’t matter just play what is fun to you. Literally every class is viable outside of the super high keys.

I’m really liking San’lyn Blood DK on the Beta.

The class fantasy is high and you have so many tools they almost feel unkillable at times.

vengeance demon hunter

If you’re pugging you can’t go wrong with any tank really. Just know your routes and know how to play the tank you choose and you should be golden.

It’s really going to come down to player preference if you’re asking. You only need to chase meta if you intend to play at the upper spectrum, at which point you just play whatever is best for the season. Best changes at blizzards whim. Everything is viable up through max vault rewards and really most of mythic raids. You typically avoid the lowest performer, and that changes every season.

I recommend playing each a bit and seeing what you like the most mechanically. Mop remix is a great way to start testing out the kit.

Typically the most fun is whatever you perform the best on balanced with whatever aesthetic you enjoy the most.

Blood dk is my favorite tank, and prot war is up there too as a VERY close 2nd. I like plate gear a bunch. I hate VDH and Brew, but I’ll play them for quick queues. Leather is my second favorite armor type. I tolerate prot Pld in short bursts once an xpac. I can’t stand Druid, I don’t think I’ve ever had one at max level.

DK is always great for progressing in raids
Strong all the way up to portal levels of play in m+
And nearly unkillable in PvP (last I checked)

Blood gets my #1 vote. They’re fun to play as well
As a back up though, I vote Prot Pally. Just because it has so many tools available, as well as a DPS spec and a Healer spec (with minimal re-gearing) in case you get bored.

I main a Guardian Druid and this gets my third and final vote. A lot of people find it simplistic, but that’s also because they fail to use Druids full kit to its potential. Not to mention: ranged dps, melee dps, and heals all on top of being a tank rolled into a single class.

Another voice for Blood DK, especially if you’re pugging. Most definitely blood.

It is “fun and engaging”, in TWW gorefiend’s grasp is going to be available for practically every pull in M+ with the right talents, and most importantly, it can almost feel like a solo experience. Pugging can be so hit or miss, and with a Blood DK you’re taking care of… you. As long as you are careful at the beginning of a pull to make sure you have bone shield stacks and do a decent job of timing your tombstones/marrowrend/caress to get maximum CD reduction on DRW, and obviously good use of runic power, you’re pretty much immortal.

And as far as raid (which I really don’t do, so don’t take me as a primary source), BDK is apparently King.

I don’t know about that, first we need to figure out what pigging and soling is and teach OP some grandma.

Blood is so much fun.

best beginner tank is warrior - no actual rotation and very simple defensive structure with great mob control.

Pugging/soloing my bad was speed typing it lol didn’t double check yeah I love the aspect of dk always have because I focus myself with death strike healer is there as back up for the rest

I shall include my vote for Blood Death Knight. Looks good SO far.
