Chomp question

i am making a build for soloing delves on my feral druid. and every build i find doesn’t have chomp in it, is it a bad skill.

Yeah.

I mean, I don’t know all the theorycrafting, but there are some glaring issues.

It’s single target, so you’re already limited there. Even then, I think for st, lunar insp is better.

Beyond that, clear casting makes it unreliable to use on cooldown, so whatever its hypothetical dps, it doesn’t really work out that way.

Then there’s the fact that it scales best on crit, which we don’t prioritize, so it doesn’t scale super well.

I don’t know what you’d really use it for. I can imagine some random pvp situation where you land a nasty chomp and finish somebody off, but that’s gotta be few and far between.

The only thing I can say for it is that it’s kinda fun. But it’s not worth it.

that kinda sucks, cause it seems like it would have the potential to be a pretty hard hitting skill.

Feral is not a spec that wants chomp. The ability would be better on WW monks.

I’ve never used chomp. I’d rather just specialize in frantic frenzy and empowered double clawed rake for hard content where aoe is needed. I’ll do swipe builds when I deal with weaker mobs that die really fast.

Hell, even in higher keys now I’m just sticking with swipe builds as the burst damage coming from other classes (especially WW monks) is pretty much making rake pointless too.

Even in single target, I’m picking our empowered moonfire over chomp as it does way more damage.

At this point it just feels like Ferals are just full on boycotting chomp until the devs finally realize how useless it is.

Ps: chomp has only been used when I was levelling up, the lack of haste regen at lower levels warrants it. That’s it.

Now I have my haste softcap, I barely find a situation where it procs to even use it…

Basically just a case of tuning, Even when optimise fully in sims it just doesn’t come close to other talents its about 3-4% off other talent tuning.

ok would it make more sense to have it on a different talent part of the tree. cause i mean year clear casting seems a bit more benificial.
