China owns Blizzard and Activision

These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head sure there many more.

This deserves a thread on its own, imo. Epic just earned some respect from me on this issue.

I’m talking about major corporations here, bud lol.

I just want to congratulate everyone on here defending Blizzard’s move:

You have discovered how the 1st Amendment can be made null and void. All we need to do is force 100% of our interactions to be made through companies and then have the US gov give a wink and a nudge to these companies to censor anyone they want to.

Freedom of speech MUST be defended here.

It’s perfectly acceptable to control their customers if they are representing the image of the company. Especially if negative actions by said customer would cause them to lose billions.

The people that would make them lose billions are in the wrong. Taking a NON-STANCE on an issue shouldn’t be seen as full endorsement, but that’s the kind of thing you are forcing on these companies into with this sentiment. You’re pretending like its OK for them to lose billions; as if that’s somehow moral.

That’s totalitarian. That morality is disgusting. Your position is disgusting.

It’s also NetEase that’s responsible for Diablo Immortal. Blizzard was so proud when they announced that b.s. LOL

Oh, child, you’re adorable.

This is a game forum owned by a private company.

My personal opinions about this situation are irrelevant, and so are yours, IN THIS FORUM.

There are places to talk about this.

THIS FORUM is not one of them.

Steam under Valve Corporation
By 2012, Valve employed around 250 people and was reportedly worth over US$3 billion, making it the most profitable company per employee in the United States.

On Thursday (Aug. 30), JYP closed on the Korean Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (KOSDAQ) stock exchange at 31,300 KRW ($28.03), bringing the company’s market capitalization to 1.09 trillion KRW ($976.3 million). Former leader SM Entertainment’s market capitalization was 1.08 trillion won ($967.3 million) at closing.

JYP Entertainment was founded in 1997 by J.Y. Park and listed on the KOSDAQ in 2001. It has produced many of South Korea’s most prominent K-pop acts, including [Wonder Girls], [Rain], [2PM] and g.o.d. The past year has been one of the company’s most successful, with TWICE dominating Asian markets and GOT7 recently debuting on the [ Billboard Boxscore Hot Tours]list after their July show at The Forum in California grossed $1.3 million. In January, JYP overtook YG for the second place spot in the Big 3.

Steam in China is basically a completely different service. A platform like that can be altered on a per country basis as well. Australia for instance has banned a number of games that we can get in the US. Steam also never made a comment about supporting HK one way or the other, unlike Blizzard. Keep trying though.

99% of your manufactured goods like computer parts and furniture come from China. At this point even 35% of our food comes from China.

I’m not saying it is right, or that it’s good, simply that it’s how the real world works, and everyone has had a small hand in making the world what it is today.

You go call your friends on your Chinese phone, put on your Chinese clothes, and go see that new movie that the studios made to try and capture more of the Chinese market. And then you come back home and say you are unsubbing from a company that does all the things all the companies around you and consuming from are doing.

If you are so moral, how did you let things get to this state?

Not to mention what country owns about $1.17 trillion dollars in US debt.

But people were saying, by silencing free speech they basically endorsing China. Oh now Valve is different?

“No, I’m not gonna believe Steam is kowtowing to China, I have so many games on there!”

pathetic.

How do you silence free speech by…not silencing free speech? This isn’t even a free speech issue, dude. Once again, we are going back to the irony of your original post calling people idiots.

China owns every business, let’s be serious.

Japan has more.

You just blew my mind man

Pocketwrench:

If you are so moral, how did you let things get to this state?

I was born into it. If you’re raised in an environment where something is commonplace you wouldn’t think twice about it until it becomes painfully obvious how unjust it really is. That’s WHY I’m speaking up here.

Also, unsubbing? I’m sorry, I don’t disown people for them doing something that is wrong. Instead I lecture them until they understand why what they did was wrong and then we continue to have a happy relationship provided they change.

Companies need to stay away from a government who has OVERTLY said that they must be ready to go to war with us by 2020 to take Taiwan. Now suddenly almost all our companies are fully, or in part, owned by them? That’s odd that now people are being censored left and right.

I want them to change. I want them to drop the CCP like a bad habit and support the REAL government of China.

Also, new account (3rd post here) so yay this is my last foray on this thread. EDIT: Lol, nevermind, this is 2nd. I obviously should leave so I can go to bed lol

Do people not realize that the world is mostly governed by who has the most money or who is willing to do whatever it takes to get the most money? What bubble has everyone been living in the last few decades?

Do you get paid from your job with good feelings and compliments?

You just proved my point. You do realize that right?

EDIT: You didn’t rebuke the part you quoted me on, meaning you understand the implications of a business choosing them over us… When I mentioned that that nation is preparing for war with us and has said that they would do so.

Blizzard has a choice to make.
