China owns Blizzard and Activision

Actually they cater to lots of markets around the world. Blizzard is not just in the US… expand your horizons.

Owned by and cater to are nowhere near the same thing. /sigh

Im always down down for a good time…

My aunts name is Jenny so this sentance makes me uncomfortable.

It’s so funny how people post from their Chinese phones, sitting on their Chinese made chairs wearing their Chinese clothes, going “I unsubbed, I stopped China, I’m just great”

No wonder governments and the media treat people like idiots, they are.

I feel like I shouldn’t have to point out the irony in this post. I suppose I will though because it’s fairly entertaining.

No one is saying “I stopped China,” alright. Unsubbing is just a right as a consumer to say, “hey, I don’t agree with what you are doing so I’m going to take my money elsewhere.” It’s ironic you would consider people idiots when you can’t even grasp the basic premise of why people are upset.

China doesn’t exist. Only Hong Kong and it isn’t where you think it is

It’s on the moon.

People are upset that a company protected their own bottom line at the expense of looking good, what a surprise for a company.

What happened to the “Blizzard is just trying to make money with cosmetics and mounts, they are a company, they try to make money”

Suddenly it’s not okay for a company to be a company when you don’t like it.

People are upset because they took a side. Most companies want to, or already do, engage in business with China. You don’t need to be a genius to know that.

Probably somewhere off the California coast. And you can’t land on the moon it’s just a light. Sides of the north sides of the north

The difference stems from the type of product Blizzard offers. Blizzard offers the opportunity for their customers to create content, but this would naturally lead to Blizzard finding themselves in trouble because such content would “become their image.”

This way of thinking is morally unacceptable, but that’s off-topic.

Similarly, for Blizzard to step in and try to control their customers is also morally unacceptable. They are not police and should not be expected to be.

People who try to judge companies by this metric are disgusting. Should we boycott candy bar companies because some crazy dude runs around assaulting people with candy bars? No, that’s total nonsense. Let them be companies.

Yes they took a side, the side of keeping the money rolling in from China. Pissing off a bunch of Twitter warriors is insubstantial to the billions the Chinese market and investors offer. Sorry they are just a company, like any other, and I think you’d find they’d all do the same thing.

The same thing Steam did when they banned the Taiwanese game makers when they introduced a political easter egg in their game.

The same thing when JYP forced Tzuyu to read out an apology to China.

It regularly happens and you ignore it.

Epic released a statement saying that players of Fortnite would never be punished if they express their opinions on things like this. https://wegotthiscovered.com/gaming/epic-ban-fortnite-players-political-views-controversial-statements/

An American company leveraging it’s power to limit freedom anywhere in the world is terrible. Go to China and enact your censorship from there Activision-Blizzard.

It’s perfectly acceptable to control their customers if they are representing the image of the company. Especially if negative actions by said customer would cause them to lose billions.

If they all would do the same thing, why haven’t all of them done the same thing? So far there have only been two that I know of, Activision/Blizzard and the NBA, and both times it has blown up in their faces.

Now I’m not saying a lot is going to come out of this, but there is a reason people are upset, and rightfully so. It just comes back to the irony in your original post, you calling people idiots when you can’t even grasp the basics of what is actually happening.

Epic Games is a disgusting anti-competetion company as well. They’re just as grimey if not worse than Blizzard in this regard.

It is NetEase that has Blizzard’s nuts in a vice.

That’s why it’s amusing. That’s how you know you done goofed.
