Loans are a thing. You have to spend money to make money. Even if you have to start small.

People who donā€™t fit into the social norm gotta have someone to whine to. 99% of the time itā€™s lies to cause trouble because they didnā€™t get a raise or promoted though so the Woken raise a fuss for them.

Knowing Blizzard, she has a male assistant who gets paid more than her.

you do realize blizzard was a small indie company at one time? then they wanted to grow big and sold their company to vendie or whatever itā€™s name for a couple hundred grand i think it was? (now being bought by microsoft for several billion)

if you have a good idea and the will to make it happen, you can. plenty of small games go viral especially now because of things like steam.

(starcraft was originally considered a disaster on itā€™s first viewing, and then blizzard turned it around into a legend in history and a national sport in South Korea)

Its okay. it will be better this time. IT was told to NOT give her the peoplesoft access the other one had Iā€™d wager.

If they learned from the last time anyway.

Lets hire the equality person. lets give her same peoplesoft (or whatever HRO system they use) access as the head of personnel. andā€¦she saw she got screwed over with pay and benefits lol.

I donā€™t buy into wokeism. What did you do? What is your experience? How are you going to make profit for the company?

Realistically, that is what matters in the business world.

I will let you know in a year because she might not be around after the Microsoft buyout of Activision as they will most likely fill her position with one of their own people. Canā€™t wait for WoW subs to be linked with Xbox Live.

Nobody should be forced to go into debt to make their own company because of racial or gender bias. They should be able to be hired based on qualifications fairly.

Period.

In a perfect world (my opinion) applications for schools, jobs, etc would all be done by number. No name that can lead to people assuming race, gender, religion, ethnicity, etc. The pool of interviews would be based on most qualified, not anything else.

No, that is not the history of the company. Wiki is your friend  They have never really been independent and were owned before Vivendii bought them.

So doing some homework I noticed that these CDEI or CDO individuals have a difficult job because itā€™s less HR and more a direct connection to the CEO.

Blizzard is diverse in the sense that it is marketed all over the world minus Russia. Therefore it has the ability to aggregate diverse leaders.

And an issue with the game is its origin versus the game it is today. Today it is representing a different demographic completely. Obviously I donā€™t have numbers but historically minorities and other genders have been marginalized in the gaming business as well as gaming period. Very few are CEOs. Few work in STEM. It needs to change.

Blizz is hoping for 50@% diversity hires within 5 years.

Now that gaming is a lot less ostracized or stigmatized than it was when I was living in the 80s, people from all age groups and genders participate in greater numbers.

But blizzard in its founding represented an outdated outmoded method of treating its players as well as its stories under false pretenses of equal representation and equal respect. Obviously we learned that that was not the case and the signs were there. Look at Blizz con videos.

Warcraft I think could be the flagship of online gaming that encompasses everything about diversity, unity, and overcoming past hatreds that ironically is part of its lore. The game itself is improving.

All Iā€™m saying is it has the best chance for redemption now. The game and itā€™s workplace needs to represent everything and all things equally. Hard lessons were learned. Leadership needed to change and it will be and has been changing.

I see it as a good thing. Just like any other business out there you have to learn to adapt to the changing of the world. Living in a anachronistic, racist, sexist, intolerant bubble is only going to end terribly. People are not putting up with it. Thereā€™s zero tolerance now.

I may be the worst death knight / player in this game but itā€™s still the only game I play and Iā€™d like to see it continue for another 20 30 40 years.

Maybe they could hire a few people who actually like WoW the way it used to be.
People who donā€™t live to raid.
People who donā€™t just M+
People who actually want a good story.
People who donā€™t think Sylvanas is the savior of the company.
People who actually like the Alliance.

Maybe actual diversity -you know diversity of thought and not just visible factors. Diversity that may make the game appeal to more players and make the company more money.

Is it considered rude in America if i call someone a diversity hire even if they are one?

The funny thing about posts like this is it does happen, just in the inverse of what they imply.

Then companies proceed to embarrass themselves like Blizzard has and has to hire a person like this for the optics.

Their offices in Austin are just as bad.

Austin is NOT a part of TX. I worked in RR and lived in Copperas Cove. The culture was amazingly different.

Life isnā€™t fair. Otherwise we would all be born with silver spoons. The business world is cutthroat. Despite the image they are painting, itā€™s all about the money.

you missed the forest for the treesā€¦my point was they were a small indi company that grew from nothing but a few dudes and were not even called blizzard in the early days.

god forbid I didnā€™t copy and paste the entire history of blizzard in this thread.

Just a publicity stunt. Though no doubt the gaggle that is the dev teams these days will see it as a win, while the rest of us sit back and roll our eyes in dismay.

First it was ā€œPolitically Correctā€ and people were upset a woman could use Ms. instead of Mrs. or Miss. How dare they hide their marital status! That was a big thing when I was in school and now people donā€™t think twice about it.
Years went by, and any time someone had to correct their behavior they called it appeasing the ā€œPC policeā€.

Then came the derogatory SJW term - how dare people include the disabled, all religions, races, etc.

The current iteration of the same thing is ā€œwokeā€. All of those are terms used as negatives against others.

ALL of it boils down to people being mad that they have to treat others with respect and fairness. Being a hateful bully is not ok - and the push back is that some people donā€™t like being called on it and told to be decent humans.

You stop being insular, abusive, frat boy jerks who get sued for millions of dollars. That makes investors happy.
