Chi Burst Instant? Y not tho

Kind of a random annoying thing. I generally play ANY other class but monk due to it scaling horribly. But the class is really fun to me outside of chi burst. Why? Because it’s clunky.

I am not really sure why it has a cast time.

So many other abilities in the game do more for less and instantly.

It’s not even like monks are just in some insane dps position where this would be an unheard of change. It just feels so out of touch in 2024 for this ability to have a cast time at all especially for how mediocre it feels.

Its losing its chi generation in TWW and Chi Wave is being made a passive that procs off RSK/Vivify every 15 seconds.

I will be removing Chi Burst off my bars and never talenting it again.

Oh hell yeah! Say less king.

If there were one ability monks get that becomes empowered, it would be Chi Burst for sure. Max empowerment you go super saiyan

The Master of Harmony Hero Class will likely make Chi Burst worth it since it will make it do double damage and healing.

Chi Wave also gains that benefit at least and I completely understand Chi Burst may be more optimal at certain target counts but the less buttons I can get away with on Monk without jeopardising gameplay the better.

If I had to guess, the only reason is for flavor. They want to give it the sensation that you are powering up a kamehameha type thing.

It absolutely should be instant cast. They can buff its damage all they want and it still won’t feel good to press because of its nonsensical cast time on a class that darts around.

That would just be doubling down on what makes the ability feel bad. If monk gets an empower cast, it should be some new MW-exclusive ability.

What about casting initially makes Chi Burst feel bad? The lack of build-up or reward? Because that’s what the Empowered mechanic exactly is-- the longer the cast, the bigger the reward.
I fail to see how giving empowered to a new ability fixes anything-- its more a matter of balance and adjustment to make the casting feel “good” as you state it.

Empowered abilities don’t belong in melee rotations. The last thing we need is to be locked down having to cast something every 30 seconds. To answer your question, what makes Chi Burst feel bad is the fact that there is a buildup at all. It’s this awkward, unnecessary cast time bogging down a class that emphasizes speed. Blizz can buff its damage all they want and it still won’t feel good to press until it’s instant cast.

I did my first lfr with an actual pve ww monk build and i thought the gameplay was less smooth then in pvp and now i know why. Ur right using chi burst sucks. It makes my rotation seem weird and habing to stand still and cast doesnt seem very monk like when everything else i do on the move.

Never had a problem with chi burst tbh. The cast time is short enough. I have a bigger problem with statues and xuen hurting the class fantasy.

Rather Xuen be a self buff cooldown and change tiger statue to something like punching the ground to cause a fissure of chi that does pulsating AE damage. Do the exact same thing as it does now but fitting the monk idea better. I want statue/totems and spirit summoning I’ll play a shaman.
