Chess event bugged?

Is chess event in old Kara bugged for anyone else?
I tried soloing it and every time I moved a piece and left the vehicle the piece despawned. Meaning my king and a lot of my pieces weren’t available to the other side to hit and they focus-fired my remaining pieces down. The problem is my king was the first one to despawn so the chess event can’t be reset or lost to redo it resulting in me being unable to finish part of the Hivemind hunt.
I already submitted a bug, but I was more wondering if anyone else was having this problem or if it’s just me being unlucky.

I seem to recall this happening last time I did it. It was late night and I think it had to do with leaving the piece by right clicking of the buff. Not sure. like I said it was late and I was tired.

Every time they patch the game the Chess event bugs out. No, seriously, it does. They have to fix it every time :frowning:

Hrm…I had not noticed but I think this may be true.

This has been broken for years and still not addressed or in wow-speak, "Working as intended: .) Nah Jk someday it will no longer be bugged.

Chess has been bugged in a bunch of different ways since like cata. My favorite was falling through the floor into curators room.

they really need to add an NPC or interactable item there that lets you skip the event

Im so glad I got Gorehowl out of there years ago so I never need to do that god forsaken raid again.

Click off the buff instead of leaving vehicle, same problem that has been going on forever sadly

This happens often. You have no option and even if you leave the instance there is no guarantee that it will reset.

The least Blizzard can do at this point if they intend to require players to slog through old content (AR I’m looking at you) is fix the old content, including dungeons and old raids.

It’s part of the hive mind quest. I ended up just moving to the opposing king and beating on him while his other pieces were busy.

You can macro /cancelaura control piece to get out of the NPC vehicles as well.
