You can do that in Top Gear, which will then take into account how gear may affect your talents
A worthless trap sim. Stats change constantly, and changing a single piece alters all your stat weights. Top Gear takes this into account. Stat Weights does not.
You can always get SimC strings from wowhead for items, and Top Gear them. Droptimizer is kind of wonky when it comes to azerite, doesn’t taken into account specific combos of azerite, or the focus on one-of traits.
And I know players in communities that won’t rely on something like this site because it isn’t detailed enough for their needs. To them stat weights aren’t useless, Top Gear is too broad with not enough encounter options, and for OP getting item strings or things like that you or I might do isn’t an option just yet. This is all about looking at the issue from OP’s point of view.
All of this is nitpicking OP, just fool around with the tools and you’ll do fine.
Well recently I have been messing with raidbots, raiderio, etc, so it’s not too overwhelming for me. I haven’t messed around with Warcraft logs so that’s why I said I wasn’t familiar. It was good you linked those things because I know I was on the right track.
You’re suggesting throwing an entire website at the OP, who has zero simming experience, and having them just “fool around with it”.
I am stating, as someone who sims a lot, that there is no need for any tool on the site beyond top gear. Patchwerk. If other sim fight styles are working for your spec, the class discord will have that information, but beyond that, it’s always suggested to use patchwerk, and apply brain power. 5 minutes, nightly, short, simple.
Stat Weights are useless. The sim itself, specifically. Stat weights are critical for sims, but the sim Stat Weights is static, not dynamic. It does not, and cannot, take into account changes in stat values. It is inherently flawed, and should be advised against, not for.

And OP has admitted to not having issues using it rofl.
Yes obviously, it’s to find the best possible balance of all those weights once they HAVE CHANGED, multiple multiple times, with your current allotment of gear and aim for gear that can help you achieve the next tier of balance once all stats are able to hit certain levels. Do you assume I dont understand how stat weights work? To say that stat weights are useless, then to claim raidbots’ top gear sim isn’t useless, is claiming the principles raidbots’ is based on are useless but raidbots is not.
If you think Patchwerk is the only sim target anyone ever needs that’s pretty crude at best. Maybe it works out at your level (?), but it’s sure odd considering that means you only have one set of gear for all types of raid fights, single target or otherwise. And if you did have more than one set of gear… Why the heck wouldn’t you sim for consistent multi target or hectic cleave? Are hectic cleave bosses somehow easier than patchwerk and therefore don’t deserve to be simmed? Nah. Why sim if you’re only going to do it halfway? If you’re simming you want the most accurate results, I recommend simming for whatever
type of prog fight you’re up against tbh.
I’ll take my friends word on it though, consistently hitting CE every raid tier then selling mythic CEs for gold for their guild seems a capable resume to me.
I know I would prefer a different thread be created to discuss this, this one is about an intro to all these types of tools. I’d hate for someone to get confused or intimidated by all this information when it’s really really not necessary to start simming.
Please review the style and syntax guide stickied at the top of the Forum.
No “makes links hard to use” nonsense required. simply enclose your link in `(the mark next to ~ on your keyboard) and post away. The link is posted non live preventing false url nonsense and such. Example:
Fair enough, I prosletye to spread the word. I have also seen links preceeded by just ~ as well. Not the recommended form, but might be easier from a phone.
Thanks I’ll give that a shot, sometimes I’ll try to go to the forums and my browser just looks like static from an old TV set that isn’t getting a signal and stays that way as well…
Name a Hectic Add cleave boss in the past three years.
Literally read the link I posted, or anything I said. The StatWeight sim is not dynamic. IT does not take into account changes in gear. It’s inherently flawed. Same with addons like Pawn. There’s a reason pretty much every class discord advises against using both.
It depends entirely on the spec and class. Depends on if the theorycrafters keep the apl updated for other fight styles. Warlock, for example, is pretty good at always having theirs working and accurate, because it makes such a difference. Warriors, on the other hand, do not see massive changes, and most of their choices Can be done through patchwork and then applying critical thinking.
You do not. You need to sim and then think a bit. Consult with others. Sims are pretty limited in the sense that you’re thinking.
It’s not halfway. Tell you what. Go ask in Skyhold, or Ravenholdt, or PoS, you’ll get the same answer. Their wording may vary, but the end result is the same. Other fight styles have niche uses, but almost every time the only one you should hit is patchwerk.
