Is there an easy way to see how much data programs on my PC are using each day?
I have a long lunch break, and my office has terrible WiFi. The past week I’ve been turning my phone into a WiFi hotspot, and using that to play wow on my laptop. I play classic wow only, and launch it directly from the .exe (Bypassing the launcher). Now, I’ve noticed that I’ve been using 1 - 1.6 gb of data every day this week (tethering date). I doubt classic wow is using that much data each day, especially from an hour of play. I have my connection set to metered as well, trying to limit windows updates. So I don’t think it’s that either.
Alot of phones will show you the data you are using.
For example on my phone (galaxy s9+l), you click:
-Settings
-Data Usage
-Mobile Data Usage
And it lists out what is using the data (youtube, chrome, facebook, etc.)
Because I’m tethering to my laptop, it shows 1.1gb as tethering. I would have to see what my laptop is using.
The only way to check usage in the laptop would be to open your resource monitor while you are running wow.
You can find it by searching Resouce Monitor on Windows. It will give you how many Bytes per second.
Mine runs at 700-1400 on average.
Try something like Glasswire:

I used the free version recently to monitor WoW’s bandwidth usage. You can deselect every other program except WoW to check only its usage. In addition, you can view the monitored data in many different ways, such as real time usage graphs, totals over time, etc.
Depending on your phone provider you should be able to look at data usage by IP address on the phones web site. Many cellphone provides charge for upload and download data.
Thanks, I’ll try this. I doubt classic wow is using 1.1gb of data in an hour. I’d like to see what is stealing my data in the background.
