Chatgpt what's the problem?

I have seen people in the forum being accused of using Chatgpt. I have been accused of using Chatgpt myself. Some people use the accusation as an attack against other forum members, or at least some type of insult. So I googled it. This is the result:

"Programs like ChatGPT are considered extremely widely used; it’s currently one of the most popular and well-known AI chatbots, with a large user base across various demographics, including students, professionals, and casual users, primarily due to its accessible interface and ability to perform a wide range of tasks like writing different kinds of content, answering questions, and generating creative text formats.

Key points about ChatGPT’s usage:

General recognition:“ChatGPT” has become a household name in the AI space, often used as a generic term for similar AI chatbots.

Diverse applications:
People use ChatGPT for tasks like writing emails, summarizing information, brainstorming ideas, creating stories, learning new concepts, and debugging code.

Accessibility:
The simple interface and free access to basic features make it easy for anyone to try and use ChatGPT.

Competition in the market:
While widely used, it’s important to note that several other AI chatbots like Google Bard, Bing AI, and others are also gaining popularity, offering different strengths and features."

So now the question arises; whats so bad about Chatgpt? Is it against the forum rules in some way? If it is being used by most people in education, business, commerce, dissemination of information of all kinds. Then why are some people in this forum acting like it’s a major sin? It has gotten to the point of absurdity.

Someone can post something like “Hi, Im new to the game, how can I travel to Stormwind city from Teldrassil?”

And suddenly someone posts “OMG this person is using Chatgpt!!! How awful!!! That’s against the natural order!!! This type of thing must be stopped!!!”

I just don’t understand what this Anti-Chatgpt is all about. I personally don’t care about Chatgpt. But I don’t get why some people have such pure vehemence against it?
Am I missing something here?

It makes sense you used chatgpt to write parts of this message.

There are several, several tools to detect AI posts.
Using AI to make your arguments is weak, and removes the thinking part from the user. It’s like parroting someone without really putting much thought or effort into it.
It’s pure intellectual laziness.

If you don’t believe me, here is the section you used chatgpt:

I distinctly indicated that I google it and that section was the google result and put it in quotation marks.

That’s still an AI summary. No difference. lol
You didn’t think these thoughts. You’re just repeating it. As I stated.

ChatGPT doesn’t write like a human or articulate like a normal person would. And any points get lost in a wall of text. Sometimes a point can be simply made but ChatGPT fluffs it up.

I can attest to this part very much.

Technology is becoming further and further user-friendly so much that you could have a 10 year old use it and become a proud parent.

With all due respect. So what? Most information is learned at some point by humans and than translated to other humans. Word of mouth, as it were.

bruh you can’t be serious. Are you genuinely asking why people dislike it when you use AI to think for you? How lazy can you be that you can’t even come up with your own thoughts?
If I wanted to talk to AI, I would talk to AI.

Next thing you tell me is that you see no issues with AI art / music.

I would even go as far as to suggest to add a service that automatically deletes any post written by AI.

Posting with an AI just smacks of lazy writing and peacocking. If you are going to post a wall of text, at least write it so you have some semblance of understanding of what is being posted and not just regurgitate an AI text block.

Sorry I don’t. This is the new modern world. We are being faced with all kinds of new technology.

Opening Statement:
Imagine a vibrant community brimming with players sharing their experiences, strategies, and dreams within the fantastical realms of Azeroth. Now, picture this landscape being diluted by algorithm-generated posts that lack the unique human touch, creativity, and personal connection. While artificial intelligence has proven to be a revolutionary tool in various domains, allowing it to generate forum content in a nuanced and passionate gaming community like World of Warcraft undermines the authenticity of player interactions and promotes a façade of intelligence rather than genuine engagement.

Main Points Supporting the Stance:

  • Loss of Authenticity and Personal Connection:
The essence of online gaming communities lies in the relatable stories and experiences shared by real players. AI lacks life experiences, emotions, and the quirks that make human interactions engaging. When AI-generated posts flood forums, they strip away the authenticity of discussions and create a sterile environment devoid of personal storytelling. This loss could dissuade players from sharing their own narratives, weakening community bonds.
  • Exaggeration of Knowledge and Intelligence:
AI’s capability to churn out well-structured and articulate posts may unintentionally misrepresent the average player’s knowledge and engagement. Conversations may begin to reflect an inflated sense of expertise among players, as AI can produce content that appears highly knowledgeable but lacks the grounded, experiential understanding that comes from actual gameplay. This distortion can create a false hierarchy where new players feel inadequate, ultimately stifling growth and participation.
  • Increased Misinformation and Confusion:
AI operates using vast databases of information, but it cannot discern accuracy or context as effectively as humans. Posts generated by AI could inadvertently spread misinformation regarding game mechanics, strategies, or lore. For instance, an AI could generate a misleading strategy for a raid encounter based on outdated information, leading to disastrous results for players who rely on that advice. The potential for misinformation becomes a significant barrier to effective communication within the community.
  • Erosion of Community Responsibility:
Each player contributes to the community’s culture, norms, and ethical standards through their interactions. If AI begins to dominate discussions, it diminishes individual responsibility and ownership of content. Players may become less likely to engage in thoughtful dialogue or take the time to craft meaningful responses, leading to a decline in constructive conversation and critical thinking within the community. The vibrant debates and exchanges that foster camaraderie and improvement could dwindle as AI-generated content takes precedence.

Counterarguments and Rebuttals:
Some may argue that AI can enhance creativity by generating ideas, thus stimulating deeper discussions among players. However, while AI might spark initial ideas, the substantive development of these concepts and the emotional investment behind them can only come from human interactions. Moreover, the nuance of humor, sarcasm, and cultural references often found in gameplay discussions is something AI cannot replicate, making its contributions superficial at best.

Others might contend that AI can help manage the high volume of forum posts, ensuring that valuable content remains visible. However, this approach risks overshadowing genuine contributions from players, leading to less diversity in voices and a homogenized perspective on the game. The community thrives on variety and the rich tapestry of player experiences, which AI cannot authentically replicate.

Examples and Expert Opinions:
A recent survey conducted by the Gaming Community Research Institute found that 78% of players valued personal recommendations and stories over algorithmically generated tips. A well-known game developer, Jane Holloway, expressed concerns about AI’s role in gaming forums, stating, “The heart of gaming lies in the community’s shared experiences; allowing AI to generate posts removes the soul of that connection.” Such insights reveal a consensus that human-driven content is irreplaceable.

Closing Statement:
In a world increasingly dominated by technology, preserving the authenticity of human interactions within gaming communities like World of Warcraft is crucial. AI-generated forum posts may appear efficient and informative, but they inevitably compromise the genuine connections, creativity, and commitment that define these communities. By standing against the use of AI in generating forum content, we protect the heart of what makes gaming so transformative and enriching—a tapestry woven from personal stories, shared knowledge, and authentic experiences. Let us safeguard the essence of our community by keeping the dialogue human.

Using the Gemini AI that’s usually wrong?

Just because it’s widely used, doesn’t mean anyone is going to respect or care what someone has to say when they couldn’t think or type for themselves.

Well when the people who tout it the most are some of the dumbest people

I think its understandable why people don’t respect it

Too bad we don’t agree, but at least I don’t insult others because of a different opinion.

Do they not teach creative writing anymore in HS?

AI is still very new, so we’re getting swamped with it.

Give it another 100 years.

I’m sure it’ll be AI that cracks open the Pandora’s box of life’s mysteries.

AI will build the ship that takes us off this planet in search of a new one, and will be crucial to communicating with other intelligent life forms.

It’s not even a matter of agreeing. You’re literally on the wrong side of the law when it comes to copyright. Are you aware how much pirated content was used to create these AI?

Everything you have said so far strongly suggests how intellectually poor you are.

There is a ridiculously and extremely huge dilemma with companies using automated tools to create a job opening on internet job boards. The disrespect has grown so much to a point that anybody who uses AI to forge messages to send to others feels dead and empty.

It’s absolutely disgusting.

I really don’t have any interest in chatgpt. Like I said. My question is why some people use the accusation as an insult? Don’t put me in the position as a defender of Chatgpt. I’m just asking the question: Why the hate against it and why the idiotic accusations?
