Between Community Flare addon and yesterday’s open world RP event, it became clear the default chat UI is or has become grossly inadequate. I found myself missing much of the RP while not able to proofread for the sake to trying to keep up with the volume of messages.
I am looking for a chat UI that is expandable. Integrated proofreading is nice but not required. What do you guys use in this sort of situation?
I use these:
Roleplay Events (Large or Small)
- Listener

- Simply RP - Chat Edit Box Extender
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/simply-rp-chat-edit-box-extender-cebe
- Emote Splitter
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/emote-splitter
Listener is to help me keep up with chat and know when my name or my current target is in chat. The Chat Edit Box Extender makes it easier to write longer messages, Emote Splitter make it possible to enter those message into chat via a multi-post.
(As a note, unless it’s DM’d or private RP, I don’t multi-post often. But it’s handy for posts that sometimes are a few words over WoW’s surprisingly small limit.)
Private Message Management
- WIM (WoW Instant Messenger)
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/wim-3
I’ve been using this since the first iteration came out over a decade ago. I don’t think I would have survived without it, especially in the era before Discord so in-game tell hell was far worse than it could ever be now.
General Chat Management/Utilities
- Misspelled
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/misspelled
- Elephant
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/elephant
Misspelled is self-explanatory, Elephant is still hands-down the best chat log saver in WoW and is great for mediation or logging RP happenings so everyone is on the same page.
