Charging in combat

Do you remember what set off hand by chance?

No. Intercept replaces Charge for Protection Warriors. Protection Warriors get two charges for it and can use it while in combat. That being said, Charge can be used while in combat for both Arms and Fury. Intercept has the added benefit of allowing the user target a party member to “intercept” the next enemy attack.

Blizzard got rid of stance-dancing to streamline what each spec does in Retail. Protection Warriors no longer need to use Defensive Stance because its benefits were set as baseline for the entire specialization as a whole as passive abilities.

Hunters don’t have aura aspects , paladins don’t have holy auras. Buffs just got reintroduced back and they don’t function at all teh way they did for the longest.
No such thing as weapon skills, No more ammo for hunters…

Incorrect. Arms can spec into D stance. Honestly this thread might make me sad if I answer these questions. Actually it just reminds me how thankful I am for Classic and being able to play how you want again.

Also the Prot passive doesn’t give Flat damage reduction… Which is a super bummer for anyone that loves Prot or to PvP with Prot. In retail Prot is extremely squishy!! I mean extremely!!! Unless you actively hit a bunch of buttons to keep up active mitigation which feels awful!!

Tanks should be Tanks. Then have some active mitigation. OMG it feels so nice to have Dodge back again too!!!

I am so excited about having Dodge again as Prot I bought the Boots of Avoidance

A more important question is how they charge from 35 yards.

Intercept exists in BFA. Why is this question relevant though?

That’s a damn shame. I had heard they’d homogenised the classes but I didn’t realise they had gone far enough to remove abilities like that. Stance dancing seems like such a unique class mechanic. :frowning:

Ah, didn’t realize it didn’t give damage reduction. Never played warrior on retail (if you couldn’t tell lol).

It’s baked into DK, Monk, and even DH through mystical… tatoos.

Yes first they got rid of Berserker stance. Then they got rid of Battle stance. Then Prot couldn’t heroic strike or execute anymore and only had D stance. Then finally at last… D stance was removed… I just can’t believe how bad class design is in Retail. I would love to have a constructive conversation with them.

Eh, he’s kind of over-exaggerating how problematic it is - which it isn’t, at all. A lot of concepts that players remember as being part of the mechanics of the class were rendered completely irrelevant and threat generation was baked into the abilities of the Protection Specialization. The spec itself is actually a lot more engaging now with better abilities to use. It makes it a bit easier to tank in Retail than in Classic, for sure, and that might not appeal to a lot of people but Protection Warrior is more fun to play overall now than it was back in Vanilla.

As a Protection ability that replaces Charge, so it’s completely different.

Of course… doesn’t change the fact that it exists though?

It still works the same as Charge, just with the ability to target a party member to intercept their next attack.

It isn’t much different than how it was, it just rendered Protection Warriors needing two charges completely superfluous.

Well it’s stam and armor but armor is pointless in Retail. You need Flat damage reduction like D stance. You have to mitigate all damage as a core design. They never should of done away with mitigation tanking.

I remember when they got rid of hunter ammo (wrath I think?) but those other changes are news to me. That’s insane that they would remove so much of the classes flavour like that. Auras probably didn’t provide a huge stat bonus but they were always nice to have and really fed into the ‘support’ feel of some of the classes. I did wonder why my dk didn’t have HoW when I logged in recently.

If it’s a completely different ability and isn’t an additional charge (and is the only way to charge in-combat), that’s not really the same thing. It just has the same name.

Cataclysm. Wrath they still had ammo.

With what you describe it sounds like they pretty much gutted the class. :<

It’s a spell with the same name, that does something very similar. Just because you can’t have both at the same time doesn’t mean the spell does not exist. The question was if it exists, not what state it exists in.

Ah okay. That’s going to be something I have to keep an eye on if/when I roll a hunter. I remember running out at the worst times when I tried to level one in wrath XD
