Characters on Same Account Share Instance Lockouts?

My characters seem to share instance lockouts because they’re on the same account. I’ll explain in detail…

I just got locked out of instances on my Mage after completing 5 DME runs, so I figured I’d go try and farm BRD arena on my Warrior since my mage is locked out of instances. Keep in mind both of these characters, Dbx and Dbz are on the same account. After logging in to my Warrior (who I haven’t played on in several hours now), I tried walking in to BRD and it says I’ve entered too many instances recently and won’t let me in. Are my instance lockouts shared between all the characters on my account or is it a bug and instance lockouts are supposed to be separate for each individual character? Please let me know if this is a bug or an intended feature.

the lockout is per account, per hour

intended.

Indeed. 5 per hour per account for Classic (echoing the vanilla lockout behavior). 10 per hour per account for Retail (a QoL improvement from late in MoP).

I’ve never heard anyone describe the interaction between Classic and Retail in this. Does Classic’s 5 count against Retail’s 10, or are they independent?

they’re completely different games, so i would sure hope the lockouts aren’t shared…

So would I, but I haven’t tested it and know of no one who has. And (rather cynically) I gave up on Blizz’s decisions"making sense to me" long ago.

Also note that Blizzard seems to see everybody on same WoW account as the same player. Have to make another character on a different Battle. net account to be able to do the once-a-day stuff.
