Characters in BFA

Well, it’s official- As cool as he looks, Genn has become the worse character in the story, passing Jaina. (Writing wise) They both used to be so good, then they just kind went… Crazy, for no apparent reason. Jaina is only half acceptable because of what happened to her home- But, even then, when she saw it wasnt actually the horde that did it, and the horde even helped kill who did it… She still didn’t change- ANd just ghosted for like, 2 expansions? And now with Genn… Well, the writing is so all over the place lately I don’t even know why he’s insane. My only guess is because he still believes Sylvie abandoned them in the start of Legion. Can anyone clarify?

Probably because of that time the Horde invaded his home, slaughtered his people, plagued his lands, and killed his son.

Well I can understand that- But he was never crazy like this, which may be because he was never a main person in the story like he is now. The main point for me, I suppose, Is that I feel the writing is lazy, and unoriginal. I love, LOVE that they are focusing more on the story with the cinematics, etc. But- The writing just doesn’t feel like its still there. It seems rushed, and a few characters are being chosen to just… Be crazy every expansion or two, and thats really it. I mean, of course it is just my opinion and I could be wrong, and just bitter because the game itself isn’t what it used to be. Just from someone who has loved the story since I was 5, I hate to see it how it is I guess.

What has Genn done thats crazy? I genuinely cant think of anything. Even attacking Sylvanas in Legion, he canonically knew she was up to something know good because despite level scaling existing, Azsuna happens before Stormheim and Alliance adventurers brought him info from one of Sylvanas’ wrecked ships about her plans.

I may of said it wrong, he hasn’t really done anything crazy, he just… Is acting kinda- Crazy/Bloodthirsty, EXACTLY like Jaina did. And I’ll give credit that he doesn’t care about the horde and what happens to them, he JUST wants Sylvanas. But, the horde just helped you, through a lot of the expansion, and a lot in the past, even when there was the ‘forced’ fighting going on between the horde and alliance, they have always worked together in one way or another. But Genn, like Jaina, just seems so focused on one thing, its almost annoying. I can UNDERSTAND it, but its still annoying and lazy with the writing. But like I said, that of course is my opinion on it.
I just love the story, and everything they could do with it. But it all, instead, feels like it’s repeating itself instead of pushing the boundaries of what the story could be, you know?

Also if some things I say don’t make sense- English isn’t native to me.

Tbh, I think the old god presence is making him even more hungry for that vengeance he so desperately desires. I don’t want him to be a good guy. After all thats happened to him if he forgave and forgot? That would be very unrealistic :3 Even for a fantasy.

Seems like a stretch to have a fit over that.

Genn makes sense, he is bloodthirsty and crazy and really wants revenge against the war machine that literally INVADED AND DESTROYED HIS HOMELAND, and killed his son IN FRONT OF HIS EYES. Why is him craving vengeance wrong? It’s only been a few years, and he has never really gotten closure for the events of Cataclysm. He’ll always do what is best for Gilneas, but if an opportunity for vengeance is found, you can bet he’ll push for it and take it.

In the pre-BfA novel Genn said he doesnt even hate the Forsaken anymore because he can see they’re just people like anyone else, and the only one he truly hates is Sylvanas.

Heres my question to the readers, why do we assume this characters are like gods of judgement when they repeat very common human behaviors???

We expect genn to be this calm and collected moral guy with perfect judgment when his entire kingdom was turned into a gas chamber and anyone who didn’t evacuate died by the now leader of the horde. His son was killed by the now leader of the horde. From his point of view (since he couldn’t see up on the ledge where the horde were), sylvanas betrayed them and left the alliance to die on the broken shore as a trap. So sylvanas has essentially done nothing but kill genns people, his friends, family and comrades for over a year…

Wars have started over MUCH MUCH less in our world throughout history but we pretend everyone is this pure center of logic and control in WoW. Emotions exist lads. That’s not bad writing to write emotions and make people real characters instead of robots.

I was never against Jaina and I do think her decision are 100% believable

Blizzard always make it seems like characters being mad at the genocide of their people are crazy and out of control, but I was 100% with Jaina hating the horde, and I’m 100% with Tyrande and Genn

this “it wasnt the horde” is BS, the horde didnt left Garrosh because of Theramore it broke cuz Garrosh was a dick to them

On top of it all he was there during the burning of teldrassil… basically losing his home once again and bearing witness to the slaughter that occurred there. This guy has every reason to despise the Horde and mostly Sylvanas.

I will admit I got a bit too caught up in taking it out on Genn, my hate for Jaina and her writing and dialogue fueled my anger- But, my main gripe was just… It all feels lazy, and unoriginal. Like its another example of things being rushed. (I.E WoD) and I just want there to be more love for the story we all love. It’s not really bad writing, I will admit. It just feels, I guess kind of forced, and as I said before- Rushed. More like a reason to push the plot if you will. My concern for the game and story has grown over the years.

It wasn’t the horde. The horde left after they saw how crazy Garrosh was becoming, with him bombing her home, and after that getting more and more crazy and closer to rage, thats when they left. The bombing played a massive part in the horde leaving.

The main thing I guess, is that there is no real reason to have the horde vs alliance- Which it seems we are moving away from anyways. It was always crazy leaders on the horde, doing something which caused a stir.

And lets be honest, Blizzard really hates the horde. I mean, I love Sylvanas, and yes I can see why a lot don’t like her, and yes shes crazy and a bad person (prob why I like her) but… I mean, the horde has lost… How many warchiefs now? Like 6? (If you count Thrall just up and leaving for dumb reasons) and the Alliance has lost… Varian. That’s it.

I mean, they killed Vol’jin in, lets be honest, A STUPID WAY. The one warchief everyone was excited for, and thought would be perfect, didn’t even get ONE expansion of action before they killed him. And his death was just… Not good. It’s what I mean by the writing feels extremely forced for the plot. Like last minute, they wanted Sylvanas to be warchief and lead into BFA, so they had to quickly kill Vol’jin, and etc etc.

Though to be honest, I do love sitting here having actual discussions about this stuff.

This could all be solved if we chopped up Sylvanas into little pieces and mailed her into the sun.

Being angry at the horde isn’t being crazy. It’s common sense.

It’s my understanding he has always harbored a hate for The Horde, but more so Sylvannas in particular. So, when she “abandoned” them in Legion, and got Varion killed, someone who welcomed them(worgan) into the alliance, then on top of that BECAME leader of The Horde, his hate surfaced to the top and is now at the forefront.

At least, that is what I assume. He’s never not had this anger, but with the way events unfolded, everyone is certainly more aware just how deep it is now.

nope you are remembering things Wrong, after the bomb the Horde still fought for Garrosh in the Krasarang Wilds and all of that happen before we even set foot at the Isle of Thunder

its 100% the horde fault

That’s just… Wrong.
I even said, the bombing played a mssive part. And wasnt the entire reason, that the bombing made the horde at first go, “hey, this guy is a bit crazy” and then things progressed.

and then they kept fighting for the crazy guy until he became a dick to them

Genn is fine . Tyrande too.

But the whole peace at the moment it’s poor …

Yes Sylvanas gave the order to burn Teldrassil . The Horde followed orders … but doesn’t this make all of them Responsible? Could they stop her? Could they act differently?

Because of that the whole „it’s Sylvanas fault „ doesn’t match at all . And the final of 8.2.5 should gave the Alliance the opportunity to slaughter them all . The Horde and their Honor (laugh) …
