I haven’t played in a few years recently got back after a few years off. I just purchased the upgrade to the most recent game. I did not want to use the upgrade that came with it yet. I have not decided which character I’d like to boost yet.
I went to log onto a character I hadn’t been on in years. Instead of having a login button it had character upgrade but I didn’t notice it until right after. I paid almost $100 after tax all for a character I dont want to upgrade. This is rather disheartening…… I tried to contact support but you have to jump through hoops just to message someone anymore and then you get some canned ai response that doesn’t even answer your original question.
There has to be a way to reverse this, this almost seems intentional with where that button was located and then you can’t message anyone to help correct it. Is there anyway to fix this?

I think the character upgrade you’re talking about is just their catch up thing for characters that have been dormant for a time. Your actual level boost is in the top right of your character screen. Something like this.

Will take time but they’re not unreasonable from my experience anyway.
Not sure what time zone you’re in but I think that might influence real person coms
I know some people that have potentially allegedly tried to get people to stop talking about supposed activities happening in the Middle East. That concern a bunch of people allegedly being harmed to death on a massive scale…
And then those people who were saying all those horrible evil things decided to report the person who asked them to be a human being for a second and stop talking about evil nonsense in the chat…
That person, allegedly, may or may not have gotten a 2-week suspension for literally trying to tell people to stop saying evil things about innocent civilians being massacred…
And then they had to wait a whole month to ever get a hold of somebody from blizzard.
You basically just described everything that goes wrong with customer service here at Blizzard.
AI is doing most of the work and the handful of things that can’t be automated aren’t being taken very well care of because they gutted most of their support staff. 2 years ago. And they barely hired anybody back
Roblox, Minecraft (Microsoft) had a recent ban binge on games that mimicked current conflicts.
