Character UI and System Bugs - how to clean up

Since pre-patch I keep having a series of weird issues:

Specific to my US-WRA character Hallun -

  1. Chat channels are all screwed up and out of sequence, like /1 General is /3 and Trade is /4. I can’t leave old guild channels. And resetting it to default does nothing.
  2. My character’s title keeps switching back to Zookeeper.

My UI/System:

  1. My sound settings switch off every time I AT or everytime I die/wipe in an instance. Specifically my Sound Effects and my Dialog-Error Speech which I need for my boss mods!

I use Spartan UI with all the frames switched off (raid/party/nameplates) but no where in the settings does it show anywhere that will automatically turn off the sound for any reasons.

I use TRP3 with the music profile option turned off.

I use Healbot - no sound settings there.

I use DBM and BigWigs (depending on the situation) and I’ve never seen sound settings as an option to turn off.

AND

I removed all sound settings keybinds from the Interface/keybind menus.

Is there anyway I can reset this all?

Thanks!

each character has its own cache file you can try reaming the cache files by adding .old to them to see if the issues are resolved. see image below

path

World of Warcraft\retail\WTF\Account\account name here \realm\character name

I want to preserve my addon settings - which folder do I back up for that? I usually just upload my entire account file to Google Drive to keep a backup/

Hallun

The WTF folder keeps addon settings. Please keep in mind that downloading new addons, and having old WTF addon settings that you copy over can cause character profile corruption issues. This will manifest in latency-like issues, crashes, and FPS drops. So if you do plan on backing up your addons, make sure all of your addons are completely up to date before doing so.

For the most part if you remove the affected characters cache’s it will just reset that characters settings. The addon settings in general should remain the same. Adding .old to the files all you have to do is remove the .old to restore the original file.
