I have a friend that wants to play, the only issue is that the character turning speed is too high for them and it acts up their motion sickness. Unfortunately due to that she can’t play because it makes them very ill, I have been looking as to a way to make it slow down. But the only thing I have found is to slow down the mouse movement speeds. Not the actual character camera turn speeds. Any info on how to change it will be greatly appreciated.
I am having the same problem on both my computer and my husband on his. I have tried to find a way to slow down turning speed both in the game controls and in the computer mouse controls to no avail. I tried turning on the precision mouse (in-game option) but that barely affects turn speed. I even bought a new mouse that has different speed settings but that was just for cursor movement speed. Blizzard really needs to add a control for this.
Please, Blizzard, work on this. I am sure it is affecting more people than you realize.
I haven’t tried this before, and I only know about it because of people exploiting it in BGs earlier this year, but there is a setting you can activate if you type “/console turnspeed (insert variable here).” Apparently the default is 180, so to return to default is: /console turnspeed 180
I’m curious if you tried lowering the number below 180 it would help you? I’m also not sure if this is a setting that sticks upon login/logout, either. There are some you have to input every time you play now, like the one to get rid of glow effects, but you could easily make a macro for the command if so. I get motion sickness really easily in video games, so I feel your pain. If this works for either of you, let me know.
Edit: I also just tried to google it a bit more and the numerical variable is defined as keyboard turn rate in degrees per second.
Hi Kylarien
Have you turned down Mouse Look Speed. Setting is found Menu > Interface Options > Mouse. Even with mine turned right down it is a bit fast for my likes. Think I’ll experiment with the Cvar that Marwenna mentions. I’ll let you know.
Alright I did some experimenting. This works in Classic. Make a macro then paste this line in it:
/console SET cameraYawMoveSpeed 30
(ctrl key + v will paste it in game)
Move the macro icon to your actionbar. Click it then good to go. Now you can adjust the speed by changing the number 30 up or down in the macro.
I couldn’t get the Cvar to stick in the WTF > Config file. Game overwrites it on launch. You will also need to click your little macro every time you switch characters.
I haven’t tried it in Retail - I suspect it will work there as well.
it worked !! i tried both increasing and decreasing. it works like a charm
