Character transfered from classic

I leveled a few toon in wow classic right after launch.
I stopped playing for a few years.
No I go back and they are no longer in classic but in Cata.
How do we get back to classic. I did not asked for a transfer.

OK, so, like me, you were late on picking Era or the progressing Classic servers (was BC, for me, at the time). Anyone who didn’t decide was automatically moved to the progressing Classic servers which is now on Cata.

Step 1: Find Dr. Emmett Brown.

Step 2: Program the time circuitry to early 2021, remembering to take extra plutonium for the return trip.

Step 3: Get the DeLorean up to 88 miles per hour.

Step 4: Upon arrival in 2021, log into your World of Warcraft Classic account and choose to have your characters remain in Vanilla Classic Era. Remember not to interact with anyone, or anything else, as the consequences could be disastrous.

Step 5: Program the time circuitry for August 8th, 2024.

Step 6: Get the DeLorean up to 88 miles per hour.

Step 7: Enjoy gaming on your characters in Vanilla Classic Era World of Warcraft.

Unfortunately there is no way, the realm you leveled on and where your character is, is the realm you level on, but they progressed the realms.

Early on there was an option when you log on to select Era or Stay on existing realm, but they removed that. They also had an option to “Clone” your character, but not many people used it.

Its sorta sad that they removed the “selection” option for people who did not make that choice and just forced them to “almost retail” (Cata)…

Unfortunately now your only good option is to level a new character, but you’re somewhat lucky because its never been a better time to level. Best server options are if you’re playing Horde, then

Whitemane Horde - (real strong PVP server with a good leveling community)

Deviant Delight Horde - (strong community that’s “FRESH” for the lack of better words giving you a more early classic 2019 experience)

Pagle Horde - (PVE realm, not certain what that community is like tho)

Most of us started over early in Era after TBC went live so we could keep playing with our guilds only to find out we were then forced into Wrath… Many quit in Wrath and more in Cata… With each progression people come back to Era; overall Era are “FRESH” servers as of the TBC launch, so take that with a pinch of salt…

Yep. The guild I made on Era had no issues progressing into BC (at the time). Had to make a new one on Era.

Check the deleted characters on your old server, there is chance they might be there, otherwise as everyone has advised, decide what you want to do and pick a server, if your not sure of the best server, comment on what your looking for Big/Small and PvP/PvE type of environment etc also include other factors such as are you a parser, casual, etc, and then roll up a new char, and people can recommend a more specific server.

You could also give a shot at leveling on HC, and if you die and decide it’s not for you, you can free transfer to your server of choice, you can actually do this if you don’t die also so no need to suicide if you want to jump ship and go somewhere else.
