Character transfer

My Classic WOW character lives now in a realm that has a high population at peak times. I would gladly transfer my character to a lower population realm, but I want to choose the realm. I do not want a choice of several realms that blizzard offers. I would gladly PAY for it. Why are character transfers not offered like in retail???

Well for one classic is not retail.
Now having said that, blizzard said transfers will exist later

A: We’re considering integrating a character transfer service once players have reached higher levels. This was available in the original WoW. We’ll look at the rules we imposed at that time and also discuss the implications of players moving to a new realm. We believe realm identity is an important aspect of Classic so any guidelines around transfers should support this belief.

Why are character transfers not offered like in retail?

Multiple reasons. The biggest one, why they’re not available immediately, is that WOW Classic is supposed to be about building community. It’s hard to do that if you don’t know who will still be on the same realm tomorrow. (It’s also hard to get that feeling that reputation matters if a clean slate is just a transfer away.)

Right now if you really really want to play on a lower population realm, rerolling is a good option. In fact, it would allow you to keep your progress on the high population realm while seeing if the lower population realm actually works better for you. If you’re already 60, you could have another 60 in a month.
