Character Transfer

Is there a reason I can’t transfer off my deathknight from an oceanic server to an american one when I did the same back in shadowlands to transfer it from an american one to oceanic to play with a guild? I had 2 other characters I’ve transferred back to american servers just fine (though this was before warbands).

I’ve tried several times since yesterday, and all it does is accept the realm (ive tried multiple realms it has been on along with the realm my two mains are currently on) and then resets the character list after 10-15 seconds.

No caged pets, no mail, no heirlooms, no auctions. Nothing that would normally stop my character is currently active. I just want to do garrison things for the mounts I missed without having to create a whole other garrison on another character.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is your Death Knight attempting to move to another Battle Net account while doing the realm transfer?

The ability to transfer to or from a Battle Net account is the only option that has been removed from the character transfer process.

You should have no issue just doing a basic realm transfer.

However, that isn’t to say that there could not be an issue with the transfer process at the moment.

Does it show ANY errors during the attempt OR is it just simply not moving through the process?

No. It is not. Currently I’m just trying to get it back to an american server so I dont have 200 ping.

There were zero errors shown. It simply wasnt moving through the process no matter what server I tried transferring it to.

As of right now, I moved it to silvermoon, deleted all quests in its log, and tried the transfer again. Now, it still says its in barthilas, with no hourglass of a pending account service, and the character transfer button is gone from the upper right. I’ve read that if you log onto a character during a transfer it could abort the transfer and* lock your character, so I don’t want that.

My question now is, is the transfer working? How do I know if there is no “pending action” like there usually is?

–Edit-- Never mind on the question, the gear icon is now there. Restarting the game 3 times made it finally show up. I’m still just confused why it took an entire 24 hours, a ticket, and a forum topic to go through.

As long as it works, I suppose that’s all that matters.

Only the passage of time actually mattered.

Character services are running slow (or, in the case of boosts, stuck fast) lately. Apparently Blizzard expects these things to not be instantaneous, which is why they want you to wait 24 hours before trying to engage Customer Service to look into it.

Good thing I did wait 24 hours and it still didn’t work, huh. It used to not be that way.

It’s always been that way with paid services - can take up to 24/48 hours, although generally it’s been much quicker when I’ve used them.

No. It hasnt. Source. This thread is literally about a charcter ive transferred multiple times. Its ALWAYS worked near instantly.

Doesnt matter. Its completed. I wont have to do another one as long as warbands exist. So i dont have to worry about a 20 year old service just not working now.

Cool. And they’ve always cautioned that it could take 24-72 hours.

Correct. Character transfers are generally instant, or are quickly processed. What the others are mentioning has to do with contacting Support to have it looked into.

If a character service doesn’t process immediately it may simply be what we consider a normal delay. They can happen when it takes longer than normal to process a payment or initiate the service due to a lot of similar requests. We ask that folks wait for 24 hours before putting in a ticket so that we can rule any of those out.

If you are still having an issue with completing the character transfer and it’s been 24+ hours please put in a ticket using “purchase failure”.

No they havent. Source: Vrak.

A ticket answerer will tell you that because they cant tell you anything else and they dont want a ticket to be created unless the service screws up, but the service itself is -not- like that.

Basically, they tell you thst because putting a ticket in 5 minutes after trying to complete the service isnt helpful.

However, thats not what i did and thats why this was created.

You really dont want to twist vraks words thats not what he said.

This isn’t a twist.

There are many reasons it can take a bit longer for a character service to process.

While it’s often immediate, that simply isn’t always the case. We have to allow for the periodic delays because they are typically payment related (processing) and that isn’t something we have insight into immediately, nor something we can make go faster.

That’s what the 24 hours is for.
