Character transfer "Please clear the mail from this character's mailbox" bug

I have been trying to transfer my rogue from Faerlina to Benediction for the past day now and I keep getting the same message about how I need to clear my mailbox. I have tried all of the fixes that I have seen online so far and nothing has worked:

  • clearing my ignore list to see hidden mail
  • disabling all my addons so see if anything is interfering with the mailbox
  • no miscellaneous mail on any of my other characters from my rogue
  • looked at the mail restoration tool to see if anything was in there
  • have not done quests that would give me mail within the next few days
  • renaming the Cache, Interface, and WTF folders

I have submitted a ticket about 20 hours ago at this point and have not gotten a response yet. If anyone has any other sort of solution that would possibly help other than waiting for a GM to respond then I’m open. Thank you in advance!

Thanks! I actually checked these but there doesn’t seem to be any mail after unIgnoring users, and I haven’t done any quests on this character in awhile. I’ve created a Support Ticket and am waiting to hear back as well

10/4 as this seems to occur randomly and has occur over the years. I suspect that you left a “letter” in the mail and extracted the items… then deleted the mail… with the letter still being in or on the mail yet not seen. Always remove all items and letters from the mail then delete the main mail.

For instance, if you’ve done the fishing pole quest offered by Gubber Blump and completed it, Later a few days he will send you a mail with a letter and Shiny Bauble. Remove just the Shiny Bauble and closing the mail will cause it to remain in your mail box because you didn’t actually delete the letter.

Brewfest letter that I deleted earlier is most likely the cause then - thanks!! Is waiting for Support to reach back the best resolution then?

Well, I recall once having the same issue and all I did was log out and back in and the mail was back in my mailbox. Deleted the “letter” then deleted the mail again. was finally gone… but can’t recall if I log out for an hour or two or a few days.
