Character size slider

Do yall think that blizz will ever let us change the size of our characters. Not like width or hight exclusively.
I think a 25% overall size slider would be beneficial for the game. Kinda like what they already do for lore characters being larger than their player counterparts (ex: Jaina is bigger than a female human)
Also, taurens could only scale down, and gnomes could only scale up
what yall think?

so… gnomes the size of dwarves? /shudder

As I understand it, WoW’s required system resources are reduced because all the characters are like Mr. Potatohead and just put a few same-sized parts together.

There are different versions of WoW Potatohead, but all Tauren Potatoheads are the same and all Gnome Potatoheads are the same, so the game requires less resources.

I doubt it will change, nor do I think it needs to. It’s fine.

In fact, given how slow our framerate can get in a big raid battle, I’m much happier with a high-performance game that uses fewer computer resources.

Nah. They’ve already said that’ll never happen because slider technology is just too much for the engine WoW is built on.

I have heard that before too but it makes no sense.

Think about it.

There are multiple items in the game that can shrink or increase the size of our characters temporarily with varying degrees:
Dark moon seesaw, gnomish shrink ray, dark moon firewater. Several of these even process the transformation at a clipped rate; displaying sizes in between their final effect size.

If the tech exists to do this why couldn’t we atleast have a similar effect on character customization/creation that allows us to size down our characters. It doesn’t cause any character graphical disparity at all.

It’s not weight/height sliders it’s size.
I think that would be a very easy way to give wow more variety through t the whole world.

I would assume there’s a large performance difference between “Mr. Potatohead can be 20% larger” and “Every Mr. Potatohead can be between 1% and 20% larger and it can be different for every one of them”.

what about only 3 option

  1. our current size
  2. 20% (ish) bigger
  3. 20% (ish) smaller

I would like to make a Kul Tiran skinny.

So like permanent versions of existing things? I guess.

I’d rather they put a code monkey on replacing all the trees with new tree models rather than work on something like this, though.

They actually answered that in a Q&A last March. More customization we for sure got in Shadowlands, but sliders aren’t on the table at all.

Are we ever going to see increased character customization? e.g. Height, eye color, etc.

They want to do more with character customization, but not on the level of lots of sliders. Height adjustments are probably more difficult.

Alliance practically has a size slider for human.
KT - pull up and out
dwarf - push down and out
gnome - push down and in

25% sounds like not much, but it’s a lot.

This is what a 25% increase looks like.

I would cap it at 10%. Enough to give it a difference, but not enough to turn people into giants and make them get stuck on doors.

You can literally scale yourself up and down right now with no effect on anyone’s framerates through temporary buffs. And buffs require updating, which actually is a thing that involves some CPU time. If it was permanent, it’d be even less resource intensive.

Since model complexity is not increasing and in-game scaling effect already exists, the hardest part about this would be adding the menu option for it.

Adding to my previous post, this is what happens when you compare the 25% increase with the 25% decrease.

The tall guy is as tall as two of the short one lol

What program are you using to make these?

very good point. that would look pretty strange. maybe 5% increase/decrease
