At this point in time, I am starting to think that the character restoration option is never coming back unfortunately. Share your thoughts but I think now it just won’t be possible anymore.

They’ll be back once Blizzard finish adding it to the Store for $60 or whatever asinine ‘macrotransaction’ price they decide to put on it.

Because people accidentally delete a character when they meant to delete another, happened to me, happens to other people. Humans make mistakes sometimes, maybe people have nostalgia for old characters they’ve deleted. It doesn’t matter the reason, having the option to restore a deleted character is a nice QOL for the players.

I mean, I get it; I’ve always been very tight when it comes to account security, but I remember a couple of times back in Vanilla/TBC where a guildie’s characters got deleted during their breakups. I don’t recall hearing anything like that in a long time, but was actually somewhat common to hear about at one time.
I think having at least a window of time makes sense. Otherwise, they’re reliant on contacting customer support, which… eh, hasn’t been great the past couple of years.
How do you accidentally delete a toon? Theres a pop up asking you if you’re sure.
And I also have nostalgia for some old toons I haven’t played in years which is why I would never delete them.

Good question - here is the answer!
There is/was a bug since the TWW prepatch that if you lets say deleted a level 20 you did not need anymore because you wanted to level another class during the event and had no slots left, there was a chance that the game just said “ok you wanted to delete x but I will delete y” and some people literally lost their maincharacter and still can not get these chars back.

This is exactly how I deleted my main… Fully kitted brewmaster monk… I had to level my alts throughout the expansion instead. Went to delete a lvl 20 that I made years ago and the screen said “Retrieving realm list”… once it loaded in it deleted the character at the top of my character list instead. Made a ticket and Blizzard said there is nothing they can do about it and that I just need to wait for the Restore function to be available again. That was 4ish weeks ago.

Mostly due to a bug. I believe it’s something like players would select a toon to delete, but the one that actually got deleted would be the one they last logged into instead of the one they’d selected. Which you can imagine would be…problematic for some folks. Imagine wanting to delete an alt you played for a day 10 years ago but the game deletes your main instead and restoration being down means you can’t get it back lol

Sorry man a Reddit post telling us a “friend” was told to delete their toon is pretty spurious.
i just want to know if the issue that was happening where people would delete an unused toon and their main would be deleted instead is resolved (?) i have a bunch of toons i forgot even existed cluttering up my list but i’m scared to delete them
I think they’re not bringing it back, and like flying in Warlords, they’re hoping we forget about it quietly.
We all know how that went.
People make decisions to delete toons for varying reasons. It is an easy decision because there is an option to restore the toon if you change your mind. When Blizzard removed this option they said it was temporary while they sort out any issues with warband. Now they are saying that they are working on a resolution to the temporary unavailability of this option. So my question is “how close are you to a resolution?”
From what i’ve seen, like previous posts suggest its likely they’re just waiting for it to silently disappear into the night. I really dont think this feature is coming back tbh.
