Character Not Found

Hey everyone,

Saw that other people were experiencing the same issues i have had for the past 12 hours or so.

I cannot log into one of my character’s, as it will get stuck at 75%-80% loading and then kick me back to the character screen with the error “Character not Found”. Done all the usual resets, cleared cache, deleted the WTF, disabled addons, created/logged into a new character.

Tried to log into the character on my mac to no avail. Cannot unstuck my character as it wont let you. Try to put in a support ticket and get the same 5 step advice as usual. From the tech support forum there are whole guilds that cannot log in.

Glad I’m paying a monthly subscription to be copy/paste cycled by some bot sending the same advice back to back, this support is a joke. F

Same problem, its happening to my entire guild. Been 2 days now and all the GM’s have said it to log out, scan and repair, make a new character. None of this has worked, hope they can fix this soon.

Huskin, i was referring to the guild Old School Fools, as thats the guild my character is also in.

Also can’t log into my toons in Old School Fools. I haven’t a different toon in another guild and it logs in no problem.

Same. I an unable to lot into my two characters that are on Dreamscythe in the guild Old School Fools.
Characters are:
Druid - Benderdundat
Hunter - Benruck
Loading screen goes until about 70%, then kicks me back to the character select screen and says Character Not Found. It is happening to all the characters in our guild. It has been going on since Tuesday this week.
I have submitted numerous tickets and got the same advice as Gearthquake and completed the same steps they did to no avail. I’ve posted on the Technical Support forums and was directed to post here.
This is very frustrating, as it feels like we’ve been getting the run around as a guild from Blizzard customer service. We have not been getting any clear answers, but just copy and pasted mumbo jumbo from everyone we’ve contacted.

Unable to logon to my character Sinrok, also in the same guild, either. Same thing as others, loading bar gets to about 70% then freezes, ‘Character Not Found’ pops up, but every other character on the server works fine.

Same here…. Old School Fools. Still happening 3 days later. What’s going on Blizz?

Blizzard’s CS is less than worthless these days.. can’t even submit a worthwhile ticket on this issue, they just tell you to screw off to the forums and hope for a response.. even though we’ve been posting here for several days with zero indication of a response. Going to submit a ticket for payment dispute, I’m sure a real person will respond real quick in that scenario. Not once did any of the automated response, or single potential human response, even mentioned the “Character Not Found” error message that I reported in the ticket.

Just thought id post an update. I’ve sent in tickets pretty much every day to try and get some clarity. This was the last response i got.

“As a player myself, i can totally appreciate how that can slow things down and i know it can be a bit of a wait, but i wanted to reassure you that they’re on it. At the moment, we don’t have a time frame since this is being handled by our Dev Team. I truly appreciate your patience as we work through this, players are also chatting about it on the forums, so you’re not alone in this! If you’d like to stay updated, that’s a good place to check in as well. I really hope this clears things up a bit and gives you a better sense of where things are at. Even though we don’t have a quick fix right now, know that we’re on it and your report is super valuable to us.”

So mostly the same BS. In other news, i did try to delete the character yesterday night and it wont let you delete the character. It comes up with the message saying that you cannot delete this character as the Guild Master and it cannot be deleted until the rank is transferred to another character. Thought that was interesting. Anyways, have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

So it sounds like they’re trying to work it out and aren’t sure what the issue is yet… at least that’s SOMETHING. Much better than anything else people have replied being responded to with.

Do you have a character with the same name in a different expansion. I’m having the same issue I wanted to try my own fix but apparently there is no name change in shop yet

Took 5 Tickets, but finally received a response that was relevant to the matter, but basically just says to try logging in again after next scheduled maintenance. Seems they are aware of the issue but won’t engage in the forum posts.

“Firstly thank you so much for trying out the troubleshooting steps, that helps a lot to eliminate some issues that could be causing the issue, however as i can see that the issue is being investigated as this issue has been reported by other too, i will have to ask you to try and log in after 24 hours as there will be a server maintenance that should fix the issue.

That’s about it, again i want to apologize for this inconvenience that you are facing, however the server reset will be fixing this issue, if there is anything else you’d like assistance with please feel free to reach out.”

Issue still unresolved, the ticket responses are getting worse by the day. Someone save us.

At first I kept getting the generic AI bot responses from my ticket. Eventually after describing that I had tried EVERY fix possible on my end, I asked that the ticket be escalated. The next message was that it was a known issue, and that the devs and QA were working on it. Then they closed the ticket.

Just now after server maintenance I tried deleting my install and reinstalling. I also made sure no addons were loaded. Still same issue, “character not found” when trying to log that character in, and then “you are guildmaster” when I try to delete the character. So my character is still stuck a week later. There’s nothing I can do on my end to fix it. I do have another character in same faction on that server and he can log in fine. My broken character was in the guild Old School Fools as well as everyone else here. The guild got messed up during a server crash.

Hey Blizz. Just a bump on this thread. still happening after maintenance. entire guild of 700+ toons unable to log in for more than a week. hope we can get a resolution or even a blue response soon? Thx - Cowken - Dreamscythe WoW 20th anniversary

Also confirming Tuesday maintenance did not solve the issue.. the only way I’m actually getting somewhat human responses via Tickets are from submitting for payment disputes, seems like they pay attention to those, but nothing else.

I’ve also been experiencing this issue while attempting to log in to a character in this guild for the past week or so.

Same here still no fix in sight.

Same here, in old school fools with my 60 main and all my gold.

Man am i glad i don’t pay my sub anymore, im not part of this guild nor am i even a anniversary enjoyer but this is just sad man, these people have been without their characters (some mains with probably thousands of gold) for an entire week that they paid for and the devs cant even give y’all a single lick of help, i hope you guys get compensation for this BS cause holy, i moved over to ascension and id rather their random crashes anyday over this type of clown fiesta, good luck to you guys on your recovery of your characters o7
