Slow loading character select screen (black for 1-2mins)
When choosing a character after the above loading the bar stops at 90% and quits with a Character not found message
Creating a new character times out
Can log into BC classic on OCE servers fine, above issues are from retail (oce and NA).
Tried all the blizzard suggested network steps on their tech support page and no fix.
I am having teh same issue of the black screen to eventually having my character screen come up then to have the Character not found box come up as well. I’ve tried from Restarting wow, restaring the blizzard app, restarting computer, turning off all addons. Nothing seems to work, by the looks of things, this has been a problem for several hours and still no blue post from Blizzard about the issue.
Strange thing is, I can log onto my wifes account with no dramas.
spoke to blizzard and they advice is try again in a few hours as oceanic servers are having tech problems

Probably chat function through customer support. Thats how i got through to them. But didnt resolve anything lol

Same issue here. Tried the “fixes” from previous occurrence. Nothing. Still can’t get past character screen.
If you encounter a black screen at startup or during gameplay, follow the steps below to solve the problem:
- Reset your WoW settings through the Blizzard Battle.net App: Options > Game Settings > Reset In-Game Options button under World of Warcraft
- Overlay incompatibilities can cause black screens and crashes. Your overlay programs may need to be updated or disabled to resolve the issue
- Update your drivers to resolve any compatibility issues
- If your game is using DirectX 12, try switching to DirectX 11. If WoW is using DirectX 11, try switching to DirectX 11 Legacy. World of Warcraft Menu > System > Advanced > Graphics API
- Start the game in windowed mode
- Click the Blizzard icon on the Blizzard app
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu
- Select Game Settings
- Check the Additional command line arguments box under World of Warcraft
- Type -Windowed in the box and click Done
- Restart the game

Have been getting the same issue since 1230AWST here’s a few things I tried to no avail:
- Have reset PC/Router
- Renewed my IP and DNS
- Scan/repair wow
- Cleared interface and cache folders
- Updated all drivers/software
The game enters the realm with a black background for about 2 mins then shows character list. Cannot enter any characters at all “character not found”. Prior to this error it was showing as I had been disconnected during authentication.
Short of using a VPN to attempt to connect I don’t believe there will be a fix any time soon.
Yeah having same problem, followed the instructions for “character not found”.
It started with one character which I could not log in with, after an hour all my characters can not be found. I ‘time out’ when trying to make a new character. When I log in to the character screen, it is empty for 5mins.
Any news from Blizzard yet? i try to switch to my phone ISP… doesnt work…
if you try do unstuck on the webpage, it also says no characters so its server-side
So apparently Japan/Korea have been having this issue for a few days now
and no fix since people are away on thanks giving holidays
When you log in it comes up with a black screen, then you wait and wait and wait then when u do click on your character to log in it said character not found , even if you log into a different one same issue !!!.
… Going to keep posting here till it is fixed maybe you will do something if this thread goes crazy with lots of posts. NEEDS to be fixed PLEASE !!!
