15-29 / 30 days, this is an entire month, if you’re not gonna RM then too bad you lose the name

45-54 / 120 days
55-59 / 150 days
60+ / 180 days, idc how long you played you shouldn’t be able to keep a ghost on HC just to greed a name, RM or transfer the damn character to a normal classic server.

This is actually based and I agree. There is literally no good reason to sit on a name when you’re dead on a HC server. Either RM a lvl 1 with the same name, delete, or transfer. I think a week is plenty but I wouldn’t mind 30 days either as long as it’s impossible for someone to sit on a dead HC character for months and have the name be unavailable for no reason.
Even if you want to log into the ghost to chat with guildies or friends or w/e you can literally do that by RMing a lvl 1 with the same name. I do think characters should be deleted for inactivity as well though, don’t want someone greeding a name on a lvl 1 and not logging into them for months, if you’re below lvl 15 and have been inactive for 30 days that’s a character delete.

I think if you go to remake your character, it shouldn’t be able to be stolen, though.
A friend of mine got a good name stolen cause someone saw him leave the guild on death and was waiting to pounce on it.
An easily solved problem without involving Blizzard.
I suppose they changed it at some point between my Guild testing and now if this goes for Classic too.
But I remember they did some shenanigans in Classic with the name reserving as too many used delete - have second account or friend make character with same name - undelete as a means of having a name change.
And if you want to try another class or race - what then?
All the responses regarding wanting to reroll are good and fine. I’m not saying a person shouldn’t have a chance to do that. What I’m referring to is people that died and never played again. If you’re dead, name should be available after 30 days tops.
There’s people that died on day 1 on server and decided they didn’t like HC and went back to Wrath or Era. They don’t have to worry about seeing that ghost character, they just changer realm and forget about it. Those names should get freed up.
Just RM a lvl 1 with the same exact name, get a guild invite so you can chat and go agane. If you’re logging in to chat you may as well log-in to play, it’s not cool to sit on a name to basically use wow exclusively as a chat room.
You don’t even have to lose the original toon just x-fer them to a classic era server and you can keep everything on them.
