Why can’t we just have modern chatacter customization options so people don’t feel the need to use mods and third party software?
Any modern triple-A mmorpg has options including height/weight adjustment and way more colors for hair/skin/eyes etc.
Apart from transmog, there’s no way to really differentiate your appearance from other players.
I was also really looking forward to making a skinny kul tiran.
We can’t even get races in the game we want like High Elves, and you want them to go and build a whole new system for making characters? Don’t hold your breath.
I mean their big idea for the new Alliance race was 9-10 ft. tall fat people…think about that. For some reason “Hardy” to Blizzard means you grow 50% taller and become fat to the point of being obese and have no muscular shape to you.
Would be interesting to see how they would manage any slider adaptation for the little league. I mean Dwarves, Gnomes and Trolls can only be so high. YOu can’t make 'em any shorter and - being small people - you can’t make 'em any taller. So that’s one part of the customization that would be deactivated.
However I agree we need something like the ones in other games such as ESO. Admittedly WoW is an older system and might not be easy to adapt. But if they can introduce transmog to change the appearance of gear, and the option to make Orcs stand straight or bent, then surely more customization would be possible.
I have no idea how intensive a job it would be, developer wise, but it would certainly make a lot of players happy.
trying to imagine the choices this kid would have for customizing…floor length sparkly hair and a svelt body perhaps? And I would like to be able to make a blond Worgen with curly fur. They need a makeover, stat!
Honestly, just adding new face/hair/skin options is all that’s needed in my opinion.
At the very least, bring all races and genders up to the same level of customisation.
Adding new body shapes would be cool but it’s harder than it seems, and they seem to be using allied races as a stand-in for that type of customisation.
I remember playing I think it was Tera and they had the character customization there. It was really nice, you could alter the shape of your face, change the spacing in between the eyes, alter the nose, make the character taller or shorter, thinner or larger. That wasn’t it either, there was so much customization it was unreal. (Guess I should say is since it’s still around) It was amazing.
lol I usually take forever finishing up a character I’ve made on WoW b/c it takes me so long to come up with a name…took me even longer on that game, but omg the possibilities were endless.
I would pay real money for customization packs. I don’t know if it’s against their policy to do so, but they’re missing out on a big pile of cash right now.
The real answer here is that modifying the game to be able to use sliders would require remaking the engine from the ground up. And if they were going to do that they would basically be making WoW 2
Yes planes can fly, no you can’t just add wings to your car.
EverQuest doesn’t have sliders.
I think more customization would be nice given the new option to hide most gears so your characters are no longer hidden underneath various armor.
