When I sign in today my Character Kelice are missing. What is going on?

Blizz knows about the issue, and they say that no characters are permanently gone. The likely scenario is that older character back up data got mixed into live because of the merger.
My character got zapped back to levle 85 and all the gear I had back then as well. It’s like the last 6 years were deleted from my character.
