Has anyone had their character list just arbitrarily get randomized?
For some reason all of my “favorites” are gone and the order of the characters has all shifted. Characters aren’t deleted, just all over the place in the list.
I can’t stress enough how much I hate this new ui. If you have more than a few toons or toons spread across multiple servers, it is practically unusable.
For example, now to add them back to my favorites, I cannot just search by name as the “favorites” bar disappears, so I have to scroll until I find them, then move to the top. If you don’t land them perfectly right in the box so snaps into place, the character just goes back to wherever it was in the list.

If you go to your Account folder (…World of Warcraft_retail_\WTF\Account) then into your account (there may be multiple) you will find a file ‘character-list-order.txt’ copy it.
If you loose your list again leave the game and copy your saved file back. When you restart the game your list will be restored to the point when you copied the file.
Edit:
Leave the copied file with a different name in the original folder so you are sure to copy the right file.

Happened again. Definitely seems to be windowed mode and tabbing in and out from a full screen game (D4, SC2) does screwy things occasionally.

I emptied that. The rest of the list doesn’t seem to be shifting.
It does more than just the favorites toons.
I have a 6 toons in the same order I tend to log in and out of. So the 4 favorites were gone, and then the other 2, got pushed somewhere down in the bottom of the list. Even toons I hardly login to (but are on the same realm - making up 6,7,8,9 got moved.
I believe it is happening to you. But I’m not seeing it on either of my accounts.
Yep, like I said it seems to be tied to playing another game in full screen (main monitor) while I have WoW in windowed mode (second monitor).
It has never happened to me with just the WoW client open in windowed mode.
Just happened to me after playing plunderstorm.

Y tho? 65 toons randomized, when they were sorted by class, then alphabetized. :sad noises:
this happened to me once. idk why. so weird

Not to necro an old thread - but this happened to me again just now. So this is still a bug that is around somewhere.
Going to be honest, this warband character selection thing is pretty annoying. This never happened once prior to TWW.
Can we please please please go back to realm based lists. Seeing all the toons on my account that I’ve accumulated in the past 2 decades isn’t good for anyone.
Bare minimum, I see the search bar at the top lets me filter my realm. Can you have that persist upon logout, so it can always filter by my primary realm.
