I have read that there is supposed top be some kind of change in Shadowlands to the Character Gender Swap service, but I was not aware that such a service existed at all, and cannot find it anywhere in the Shop…
Is there such a service available, can you change a character from a girl to a boy, or will that be something new, not yet implemented??

you could try a back alley surgeon but that seems dicey

It was a service before but they and I quote “Felt like it was sending the wrong message” to charge for something like that. So they updated the barber shop to do it

The barber shop used to be a place to go for small to moderate emergency care. Say you got in a bar brawl and a nasty hook connected with your ear and tore the lobe from your head a bit. You might go to the barber shop to have a few sutures keep you looking symmetrical…
There’s something skin-crawly about merging that real-world trivia with the idea that in Azeroth, I might stop by the barber for a quick gender reassignment on the way to a dungeon…

barbers weren’t surgeons per se. they were willing to pull teeth, cut off limbs and set broken bones.
its fair to say barbers were the precursors to surgeons and dentists, though mostly they just butchered ppl.
Actually, ingame the barbershop makes perfect sense. The differentiation, after all, in gameplay is entirely cosmetic.
You still can’t change your name that easily, though. Which also makes sense. The various governments don’t care what you look like, or how you’re shaped, or how you dress-- but they damn sure want to know who you are.
Man. The history of medical procedures was BONKERS.
I mean current surgery is still absolutely barbaric if you think about it. But at least folks aren’t dying of shock or blood loss.

yeah, early hospitals werent places ppl went to get better, they went there to die
there are lots of old accounts of patients running out the early operating theaters, which by the way ppl would pay to go see
