Character disconnected on a flight path while hearthstone is on cooldown

My character on Defias Pillager got disconnected while on a flight path from Thunder Bluff to Camp Mojache, and I don’t know how to log back on without dying. I can’t just log back on because of the bug that dismounts characters who get disconnected while on a flight path, and my hearthstone was on cooldown when I got disconnected, so I don’t believe I’d be able to use the character unstuck option as I’m fairly sure that the character unstuck service kills your character and relocates it to the nearest graveyard if your hearthstone is on cooldown, which is less than useless on a hardcore server.

I’m not sure what to do, because both logging on and using the built in unstuck service will likely cause my character to die, and none of the ticket support options seem to cover this issue.

It no longer uses your HS.

If you’re worried, just wait an hour.

It doesn’t kill your toon.

My dad disconnected 3 times flying from Azshara to Ashenvale today and had no problem.

I was on the same flight path just ahead of him and didnt disconnect once and his internet is top notch.

Not sure what the deal was.

3 times today, I disconnected on a flight path. I have never disconnected before unless there was a major server issue that required fixing. The strangest one was between Winterspring, and Org. When I logged back in, I was in the graveyard in Ashenvale. I do not have any issues with my internet at all, and this has never happened before. Kinda afraid to play my 59 until they fix whatever is causing this. Logging in to the graveyard, was a bit disturbing.

I disconnected for the first time on a flight today. I logged straight back on and was still on the flight. I think there are problems when crossing zone boundaries due to sharding.

I disconnected this afternoon flying from Teldrassil to Darkshore. First time it’s happened in hardcore for me. Logged back in and the flight resumed with no death fortunately. Server hiccup perhaps?

Your HS CD also ticks while offline so just wait - now should be fine

I disconnected on a flight path last night when crossing into dustwallow.

I was spamming the Divine shield bind as I was logging back in but thankfully was still on the griffon. :grinning:

Disconnected 3x on flight paths last night. The first time was really odd.

I was flying from Chillwind to Aerie Peak. I had flown just a short distance from Chillwind when I DC’d.

Upon logging back in, while I didn’t get dismounted, I was no longer flying toward hinterlands but instead the Griffon heading back toward Chillwind, flying over Strahnbrad in Alterac. Worse the terrain appeared to be glitching, and then I flew THROUGH, not over, the mountains between Strahnbrad and Chillwind flight point.
Reaching the Chillwind FP, my griffon did roughly a 180 and headed off in the direction of Aerie Peak at which point I DC’d a second time.

Fortunately, when reconnecting the second time, I was a). still on the griffon, and 2). still headed toward AP where I arrived safely.

The third DC happened later flying from Redridge to Stormwind but there weren’t any issues there when logging back in.

I don’t know if it’s relevant but the first and third time I got DC’d, I had alt tabbed out and un-paused a youtube video I had been watching. I didn’t think much of it the first time, but when it happened again on the Redridge-SW flight I began to wonder. I didn’t have any DC issues on the two flights I took in between those DC’d ones, but I didn’t alt-tab out on those flights either.

I had my first flightpath disconnect yesterday, as well. It was in Elwynn flying from Westfall to Stormwind. It was a lower level so I took the chance of just logging back in and all was fine. Odd that so many experienced it for the first time yesterday.

Someone in guild told guildy it happened to to check for addon updates. Said once he updated an addon, stopped happening.

No idea which addon - I’m only using Questy so I can track more than 5 quests and haven’t had any issues, so must be another one.

Also had my first d/c like a day or two ago flying. Never d/c before. Luckily I was fine.

Had the first instance of a gryphon dropping me off mid-flight on hardcore. Was taking flight from Chillwind Camp to Ironforge and when I crossed the border from Arathi Highlands to Wetlands it didn’t disconnect me but simply said “transfer aborted” and dumped me off. Fortunately this transition is over water so it just made me swim for a while around the coast.

Is potion of slow fall in classic? I made myself a parachute cloak just in case of a situation like this or my own cliffside stupidity but i assume theres some kind of consumable available that could help mitigate that fall damage? I know limited invuln is 45+ so not helpful to most folks.

Had the same thing happen to me yesterday TWICE after having never happened before while playing hardcore on Skull Rock. My first flight was from Orgrimmar to Dustwallow Marsh and I got dced and immediately relogged. When I logged in I was just on the ground directly under where I got disconnected but luckily it was in the Southfury River which separates Durotar and the Barrens.

The second time however is what scares me. I was flying from Undercity to Hammerfall and that flight path goes over Western Plaguelands. So of course I DC right over the center of Andorhal of all places. This happened last night and I still haven’t logged back in because if it places me on the ground like last time I’m absolutely dead at level 39. Pondering unstuck, but that has it’s own issues as well. Perhaps I should just take a chance that when I reconnect I’m still on the Wind Rider.

Potion of Dreamless Sleep can be used at 35+ so a bit earlier than LIPS. If you are Alliance Light of Elune can save you but that’s only one time and is ~level 25 quest. Priests get levitate and mages get slow fall both below level 25 just not sure which level (make sure you have a feather). Paladins get bubbles which can prevent fall damage. Druids in cat form get reduced fall damage (which may or may not save you) but this is at a decently high level as you need at least 20 to just get cat. Warriors can potentially save themselves but only if there is a critter/enemy in range of your landing spot you can charge.

safe fall on cats and rogues won’t help on any significant fall, like from a gryphon :expressionless:

Depends on where in the flight path. Gryphons will fly low enough in some spots to safely fall even without these abilities.

… and Hunter can disengage, but requires mob AND exquisite timing.

Happened to me in the Barrens today.

Was terrified, but logged in back on the wyvern like nothing happened.

I was sure I was gonna fall to my death.
