A lot of things haven’t been registering with this toon. She’s not my main and has been inactive for a while (I log onto her sporadically).
First, Alchemy didn’t register as me having it (said I didn’t have Alchemy Level 5) even though I’ve levelled all expansions’ Alchemy way past level 5.
Then it wouldn’t register me being at an Alchemy station when I wanted to craft some recipes even though I was standing right there right next to one (I even went in as close as I can to make sure I’m not too far away) when I was.
So I completely ditched Alchemy and decided to re-level it from scratch.
Then today, I wanted to talk to Arcanist Adyria to switch from Aldor to Scryers (I’m friendly with Aldor) but she didn’t give me the quest.
So I ignored it and decided to just level my Alchemy from scratch and bought some Dreaming Glory (a stack of 71), it mailed it to me and I opened my mailbox and clicked on the Dreaming Glory.
It said that I received it (the 71 Dreaming Glory) in text in my chat window. But it wasn’t there in my bags.
At this point I think maybe I accidentally deleted it or something. Went back to the AH, bought another stack of 71 Dreaming Glory again. It mailed it to me. It was there in the mail. I paid very close attention this time to make sure it’s not just me and I’m not just losing my mind…. I carefully click on the Dreaming Glory. It says “received 71 Dreaming Glory” in green text again in the chat window (so I received it) but AGAIN it wasn’t in my bags.
So my conclusion is something is up with this character probably because I’ve barely been active on her for a while or something… but professions aren’t working / are bugged, interactive items are bugged, quests are bugged and trying to purchase items from the AH and receiving items in my bags is also bugged.
I’m not sure what else isn’t working but these are all the issues I’ve run into so far.
For the herbs, is it possible your reagant bag is hidden? It is fairly easy to accidentally toggle those bags to hide them. Or if that bag was full it could be in another bag that you have hidden. Make sure you have them all toggled as visible.
For the quest you said aren’t working, are you in Lorewalking mode? It is easy to think you’ve left that mode but didn’t actually do so. While in Lorewalking the game behaves very differently and you can’t do other quests. If you are in Lorewalking you should see the banner (by default) on the right side of your screen between the minimap and quest log. The quest log could be partially hiding it too.

No. And no. I don’t have reagent bags (only normal 32 slot ones) and I’m not in Lorewalking mode (I’m not interested in doing Lorewalking at the moment seeing as there’s so much else to do with Lemix and Midnight housing decoration and stuff).
Just a lot of weird things happening to this toon lately. Too many for it to be an oversight on my part. Thank you for the heads up though. I’ll keep that in mind (the Lorewalking mode affecting other aspects of gameplay - in my case, it doesn’t seem to be that though).

Darn, couldn’t be that easy could it!
Why don’t you try a full UI reset then. Corrupted UI elements can cause all sorts of random things, and has been known to make items invisible in the bags.
It will reset your UI to the most basic default, as if it is your first time playing the game. It is reversible! Make sure you move or rename the three folders listed in the guide! If the UI reset doesn’t help then you can simply reverse the changes by moving/renaming the folders back to their place.
Make sure to follow all the steps listed here.

Hehe! That’s alright. Thank you so much for trying to help anyway. I’ve seen you around the bug forums before and you’re always friendly, helpful and polite and I appreciate that.
I logged in again today to try your suggestion and it seems the missing amount of Dreaming Glory finally and miraculously showed up. It seems like it needed me to log out completely from both WoW and Bnet to correct itself. I hope the other aspects of Alchemy are working again now that I’ve relogged. Fingers crossed and thank you for always being polite and courteous and helping out.
