Character Customization: Disparity Between Male & Female Face Choices

Does the disparity in visual representation of faces between the sexes not bother anyone else? On average, the female model of any race will have increased options with smoother, wrinkle-free skin, softer expressions, whereas weathered/scarred/wrinkled/snarling face options are the default for males.

Am I advocating that every race should look perfect and beautiful? No. I’d just prefer that there not be such a large skew between the sexes in terms of available appearances and expressions.

Compare the least weathered/wrinkled/scarred male face vs the most wrinkled female faces of these races:

All men must look muscly and hairy with laugh lines.

And have a dis-proportionate body.

Women get to have normal faces and usually good posture.

That is definitely the blueprint that the designer(s) seem to follow.

With the character customization additions in Shadowlands, Humans came away with the most differentiated face options of any race, and I hope Blizzard intends to give that treatment to the other races where possible.

Even just taking the Night Elves as an example, the male has about 1 smooth face option (with a scowl) whereas the female NE’s options are all generally wrinkle-free and smiling!

Welles the females are too human, we know that much.
Their options are also often better than the ones for males.
There is a disparity, also between different races and I think it should be more equal.

When I first started playing I made a human priest and made her look older with a lot of lines on her face - who better to heal myself and others than my grandmother!

I also went to look at the options for my main (draenei female) and switched to male out of curiosity. I noticed a lot of extra options and was kind of disappointed. I don’t have any male toons so I just assumed the character creation in WoW was meh, but now I know that’s not necessarily so.

Yeah, I would love some smoother faces, but honestly I would just be happy to get rid of that darned scowl from Nightborne/Night Elves. On the PTR Nightborne faces were rid of it, and it was an improvement. Unfortunately that seemed to be a bug and they “fixed it”, and now we’re back to permanent scowling. :frowning:

I would start talking about how men in real life are naturally a bit bigger and taller and such, but now looking at it, most of the females in WoW have the exact same body type and look like human females while the males have really unique body types.

Like draenei, trolls, orcs, etc. I think the most unique female is probably tauren.

I don’t consider lines, battle scars, or facial features from aging “ugly”. And they already have pretty men - blood elves!

I merely want expanded options and choices for the players of races where their range of expression is limited and defined to only one type.

The problem is, for certain race and gender types, those are the only options available to them.

We need more pretty boys. The more pretty boys the better :+1:

I think wrinkles etc are supposed to denote some “toughness”. It may also show skin textures. I personally would rather more options all around for all character creation.
