When the early character creation thing goes live on Aug 13th will there be a way to tell which servers are where geographically? Like east coast, west coast server etc?
I expect there will be some server list details made available before the name grab event. No doubt if we poke around online we can find their locations. Now, I think, the US servers are all located in LA or Chicago, but I may have that all wrong.
I hope so - I hope it’s just the character creation screen and you pick server, make and name character, but can’t log in.
I am hoping they’ll release a list of servers and locations beforehand to allow everyone and their friends to decide. It’d suck to reserve an awesome name, only to realize your friends have rolled on different servers.
There should be a list made available. In Vanilla it came out a couple of days beforehand and these days you can see it on the Realm Status List.
If they’re smart, they should put up a testing version of the Classic Realm List (or add the Classic realms to the realm status list).
Likely how it will work, though, as it is done today, first you choose your realm, then you get the character creation screen.
Don’t believe so, the realms are broken down into US Oceania, US Pacific, US Mountain, US Central, and US Eastern. I assume there is a server room located in each region.
You could easily be right. I was playing with a new toon on retail not long ago - checking latency and could only find Chicago and LA sites. My check wasn’t terribly thorough though. In the ancient past I remember servers in Seattle and Phoenix and I think SF Bay Area as well (I am west coast focused).
All the datacenters except for Chicago and LA have been closed. All “servers”, no matter the time zone each represent, have been consolidated onto one of those datacenters.
Are you sure it’s the 13th for the Americas? Maybe it’s the 12th. Just like it’s the 26th for server live date, for the Americas
