Character Boost Not Working Properly

Hello, I recently started a new World of Warcraft account and pre-purchased Dragonflight heroic edition, providing me with a level 60 character boost. According to this article: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/251513

You will be ported to Oribos where you can immediately choose a covenant and begin exploring the Shadowlands. Shadowlands World Quests will be unlocked.

I should be able to choose a covenant, but I cannot. It seems I have to complete the entire Shadowlands campaign from the beginning in order to choose a covenant and see world quests, which is not what I was interested in; especially when this process would normally have been completed through leveling, a process that I paid to skip.

Is my character/boost bugged or is this an intended design?

upvoted, having the same issue myself. Wanted to play with friends after preordering dragonflight, but game won’t let me access shadowlands covenent powers. Blizzard help?

Hello Brandil,

That’s interesting. I, too, am having that same exact problem. I purchased the Dragonflight heroic edition, which also provided me with a level 60 character boost. I was unable to select a covenant and it’s having me do the entire Shadowlands campaign! I was really hoping to play with my friends in pre-patch, but I am unable too. It’s really demoralizing to say the least. >_<

I also received an automated response that doesn’t understand my issue. Sent in another ticket, hopefully we can eventually get to someone for a real answer.

I’m having the exact same issue. It’s not functioning like anyone says it should.

Isn’t that an intended design? Since it’s a new account, I think you would have to do the entire storyline at least once. You can’t skip anything that hasn’t been completed at least once, since it’s a new account, I bet you haven’t done the storyline on that account.

No its not. It would’ve been mentioned in the limitations and restrictions area if so.
Additionally, a friend did the exact same thing and was able to gain all these benefits but thats a personal account so take it as you will.

I noticed that my thread was moved to Bug Reports instead of Customer Support. As this is a character service issue, is this not a customer support question when asking if this is the intended result?

Should I interpret this as confirmation that the boost is currently bugged and will be fixed?

this is crap cause not only does this screw returning players out of getting end game content experienced before DF, but returning players who use their DF boost are not getting to use threads of fate for their other characters…which is absolute crap if $60+ is the price for upgrading the account or boosting a character. This is ridiculous

I experienced the same bug and I am mad, because I wrote a ticket and this was my response (see Bold text)—I wasn’t happy, since I spent $90:

I am Game Master Taishemara.

Sorry for the late response, with what’s going on in the world even we are working from home and everything takes more time than usually while we have a lot more players returning and staying home. This means longer response times at the moment while we of course still try to help as much as we can.

I looked into this a bit more and there seems to be a bug where this sometimes happens.

To explain it all in more details and answer all your points:

Regarding the bug that you were not ported to Oribos:

What you can try if you haven’t started questing yet:

Go to Orgrimmar/Stormwind
Speak to the NPC for A Chilling Summons and choose to skip the Maw
When arriving in Oribos, the RP will play for Threads of Fate
Accept the quest and select Threads of Fate (confirming in the box)
The character will now be on the quest to speak to and select a Covenant

Try to talk to https://www.wowhead.com/npc=174871/fatescribe-roh-tahl and check if you can pick Threads of Fate and skip questing the story all over again.

If you can no longer do that there is sadly nothing that can be done and you would need to quest normally.

The only other workaround would be for characters that were newly created. We would detroy them and give a new boost to try again, that’s however not an option for your Paladin due to his high amount of past playtime, progress and gold.

I am really sorry for this trouble and I hope I was able to explain and answer most of your questions for you.

I hope you have a great day and I wish you all the best.
