So this has happened a few times with me now. Got killed by Chaos Bolts when my turtle was already active. Last time it was 18k chaos bolt.
Is it some talent that warlocks have or is it just a bug?
They probably got the cast off before you hit turtle.

I have seen lots of things hit through Turtle and I’m pretty sure it’s just lag. Essentially they got it off before you used it, but the animations arrived late.

Just to make sure the other answers are clear, you have to turtle before the cast ends, not when the animation is about to reach you.
If you turtle AFTER the cast: the spell still hits you, you’ve only gained 30% damage reduction from turtle at the cost of a 3 minute CD.
If you feign AFTER the cast: the spell still hits you, you gain the 90% damage reduction, it’s only a 15 second CD (with legendary), and you’ve saved turtle (3min CD)
