You pretty much said it. This game isnt perfect. But their are outliers, There are a lot of bad players everyone definitely doesnt play the same, and this is not a card game. We are characters who move around. So whoever shows the most skill will win. Were not all evenly matched.

Warlocks are reliably ALWAYS top tier.
Right now is like the first time in history that they arent.
There’s a lot of active gladiators on the forums. Dilly is the only 10+ r1 on the forums tho besides when nahj pops in

Warlock rotation is pure sxxx. The pre-burst preparation is too long, Aff lock has to put 3 dots on 3 target, each to cost 1.5 sec gcd, before you can do any meaningful damage, you spend 13-15 sec already. then you have to stand there read rupture, reading rupture is the only way to do useful damage. Ret self healing is more than warlock 3 dots damage. There is no fun in warlock rotation, no any burst, no surprise like the other class. Also warlock survivalbility has huge problem, the slow-kite design is aweful. if warlock stand, warlock will be caught and die in 1 sec, if warlock run, warlock cannot do meaningful damage. They need change either UA or rupture to instinct cast. Or give some way to put all 3 dots in 1 gcd.
If true he probably got used to the convenience of stealth and Ferrari speed vs constantly waddling at 30-100% run speed taking the absolute maximum amount of time getting from point A to point B.
Lol - Lock is gonna be great the later the expansion goes, especially if class tuning continues as they won’t be touched. Once they have 30% haste and 40 vers they are just gonna laugh at everyone.
I’d say the fact Warlock isn’t on anyone’s radar right now is by virtue of the fact that their counters are the meta.
When Hpal and the outliers get brought down to a reasonable level, you’ll see Warlocks creeping in.
He’ll play boomy until he loses to a warlock
Locks are S tier in raids and RBGs and trash in arena and keystones. Very polarizing class if you want to do a lot of different game modes
