Changing the "Initiate Vote-Kick" interface from text to drop down menu

I think it would be better if we change the vote-kick window pain when initiating a kick to a drop down menu. Reason why I say this, because currently people can use it as a way to bypass the In-Game Code of Conduct when it comes to communication, and since there is no way to actually report this sort of thing, it is a loop hole that players can breach.

Take for example.

Now, at first glance, some may not think there is really anything wrong, due to that we can choose any reason to why we would like to initiate a vote-kick on anyone, but at second glance, some reasons can seem a bit toxic if put in a bit of a toxic manner. And people can also use it as an option to clearly use as clear and mask language without getting actioned for it, since there is no way to actually report it.

So, then the idea I had, when initiating a vote-kick on any player, instead of having an option to type out the reason, what if it was a drop down menu instead:

Like, I do believe players should still have the option to initiate a vote-kick for any reason, which is why I added an “other” option within these templates, but it might help reduce that toxicity in that part and closes a loop hole where people can use the Vote-Kick window pane to bypass the In-Game Code of Conduct.

Seems like a complex solution to something that’s not really a problem.

Plus, is it really toxic if the “target” never sees it? I would say no.

I never mentioned anything about it being a problem. I said it is a way to bypass the In-Game Code of Conduct with communication in regards to the Vote-Kick interface pain.

It may not be toxic if the target doesn’t see it, but doesn’t mean it isn’t toxic when others have to also vote on it and have to see it.

I like the type in responses tbh

I can guarantee you that that text is logged and can be moderated by Blizzard when necessary. If you see something abusive or harassment in the reason, it’s best to report it through the support system. I don’t know if I see a reason to overhaul the entire system because of a what-if.

Hang on, let me find a quote, because Vrakthris has actually mentioned something completely different when it comes to the Vote to Kick interface.

I think I found the post you are referring to (Oct 2024). That’s unfortunate. I take back what I said, then. The system could use some improvement.

Can you link the post to me. I am still struggling to find it. If it is one where I asked Vrakthris and he replied back, then yeah, that is the one.

But also, when it comes to the chat, Blizzard usually relies on player reports. Blizzard does monitor some things manually, such as PVP participation, but they mostly rely on player reports. But the Vote-Kick, they don’t monitor, and in fact, don’t have a way to monitor, so yeah.

Even better. Thank you for that.

No problem. I was under the impression that the reason would be logged somewhere on the back end since it requires user input. That is why I was so certain it had to exist. But if a blue says it doesn’t, then I don’t have an argument. I learned something new, I guess. So thanks, too!
