Changing Outfits

Why do I have to drag outfits to my action bars? Why can’t I just select the outfit and click an apply button?

Did you not see the tab that lets you automatically equip outfits based on criteria, such as in house, or in city, or flying, or crafting, etc…

Or is that not what you mean? I don’t recall seeing you have to drag them to your bars.

You don’t have to, but to change outfits on demand (instead of automatically based on a change in Situation state), you need to be in an area where you can mount up on your Grand Expedition Yak (or other transmog mount).

You can as long as you can access the Transmogrify Pane, which requires a Transmog NPC (whether the fixed one in a hub city or the mobile one on your Yak). The Red “?” icon next to Outfit 1 through 3 in the image below is a clickable button. If you click that button it just applies that appearance (regardless of Situations).

If you want to be able to click that button without being on your Yak (i.e., anywhere at anytime), then yes you have to drag that button to your bars somewhere (could be on action bar 2 or 4 which are typically not shown & accessed by hitting CTRL-Up Arrow or Down Arrow). Could be on a completely hidden bar with just a key-bind assigned to that appearance button.

That’s not necessarily intuitive (@Mirasol had to explain that those icons are clickable buttons), but people will figure it out soon enough I think.

I just want to be able to open the transmog window and select an outfit to use.

You can do that. You click on the outfit icon and it swaps. Dragging it to the action bar eliminates needing to go the transmog window
