So, I understand I could use Bartender for this but if possible I’d prefer to stray away from that. Is there any way possible I could have simpler keybind names for things such as numpad 1, numpad 2, s-numpad 1, etc… Simpler such as N1, N2, sN1 and so on? All the above keybinds come out as Num… or s-Nu… and I much prefer a cleaner name for them
Other than the window where you select or configure your Keybindings, where in game do you actually see that “Keybinding Name” appear?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the game show a message to me that said the name of my keybinding (Numpad 0 and Numpad / are bound abilities for me).
The names of my macros are visible in tooltips when I don’t have #showtooltip in them and they don’t execute a command that has a tooltip or icon. Macros can be renamed in the Macro screen.
When I say keybind name, I mean on the action bars. That’s why I referred to Bartender as an example. I just prefer to stay away from Bartender and all that jazz, however
Ok. Now I got ya (I think)
There is an option to hide or show the Keybindings or shortcuts on the action bars. Going by memory… I think it’s located in the Interface screen there should be a generic “Action Bars” page with that as one of the options.
You can’t rename them.
I think I had them on for like a week when I first started playing the game. Eventually you develop the muscle memory, you move past needing to look at the display, your brain barely thinks “fireball” and somewhere on the keyboard your fingers press the right key and swoosh out goes a fireball.
At that point the extra text, no matter how condensed, is clutter that that prevents you from seeing more important info.
The sooner you turn them off, the faster you will develop that muscle memory.
